Lt. Richard Wayne King

 

 

Richard Wayne King was born May 20, 1924 to Stacy L. and Carrie E. King. He died Dec. 31, 1944 and is buried in Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, San Diego, CA.

Lt. King served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 351st Bomb Squadron, 100th Bomb Group and was KIA when his B-17 #42-31066 “Fools Rush In” was hit by enemy flak, spun out and Hit B-17 #43-38124 which caused both B-17’s to crash near Hamburg, Germany. He was awarded the Air Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster and the Purple Heart.
