Sgt. Norbert Francis Hesse

 

 

Norbert Francis Hesse was born Apr. 30, 1920 to Stephen and Mary A. Dohman Hesse. He died Sept. 9, 1943 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Ardennes American Cemetery, Neupre, Belgium.

Sgt. Hesse served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 556th Bomber Squadron, 387th Bomber Group, Medium and was a crew member of a B-26 (Marauder) bomber which crashed into the English Channel after being damaged by anti-aircraft fire. He was declared MIA/FOD/KIA and was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
