John J. Hill was born Jan. 12, 1920 to William Louis and Treasa Hoefer Hill. He died Jan. 15, 1968 and is buried in Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden, IA.

Sgt. Hill served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

John J. Hill, 48, manager of the state liquor store in Hawarden, IA. died unexpectedly Monday evening (1/15/1968) in that store. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm 1/18/1968 at the Methodist church with Rev. G. S. Bruland officiating. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery under the direction of Dow Funeral Home. Graveside rites will be conducted by American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars members.

Hill was born 1/12/1920, in Williams, IA. He married Shirley Vernon July 7, 1942, in California. He was a veteran of World War II and had lived most of his life in Hawarden, IA.
Survivors, besides the widow, include two sons, Dennis and Ronald, both of Hawarden; his father, William L. Hill, of Vancouver, WA.; two brothers, William, of Hawarden, IA. and James, stationed with the Army in Vietnam; and seven sisters, Mrs. Donald Reinking and Mrs. Elmer White, both of Hawarden, IA., Mrs. Wayne Von Hagel of Akron, IA., Mrs. William Kierks of Winston, OR., Mrs. Ruben Huebner of Vancouver, WA., Mrs. Barney Koopsma of Fairview, SD., and Mrs. David Kaskie of Anchorage, Ak.
