Capt. William R. Gilhousen

 

William Richard Gilhousen was born Jan. 23, 1920 to Lawrence Eugene and Della Luella Harden Gilhousen. He died July 16, 1944 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Capt. Gilhousen served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 1st Air Commando Group and was MIA and became a POW in an Japanese prison camp in Burma and died while a POW. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak Leaf Cluster and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
