Mrs. Neal Jongewaard entertained at dinner at her home on Monday evening in honor of Ringert De Mots and Arlene Brunsting who were both home on furlough. Guests included the Gerrit De Mots and Gerrit Boeyink families.

Ringert Glenn De Mots, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit De Mots, telephoned his parents from St. Paul, Minn., enroute home from Farragut, Idaho where he has just completed his boot training with the U. S. Navy. He arrived in Sioux Center Wednesday to spend his leave with his parents.

Ringert Glenn De Mots, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit De Mots, is at present quarantined for scarlet fever at Farragut, Idaho. He is not seriously ill, but will remain in quarantine for three weeks. He has a unique way of writing to his parents. He writes the letter and his buddies come and stand outside his window and copy it, so his folks hear from him quite regularly. His hospital address is: R. J. De Mots Y 3-c, C-10, c/o Naval Hospital, Farragut, Idaho.

Ringert Glen De Mots is now out of quarantine for scarlet fever and has a slight change of address which he expects will be changed in about a month. R. G. De Mots Y 3/c, Co. 11-44, O.G.U. Bks.12, U.S.N.T.S., Farragut, Idaho.

Ensign Ringert De Mots, who is attending Harvard University at Boston, Mass. is enjoying his work very much and is spending his weekends seeing many interesting places in Boston and New York City. He recently was made a member of the “privilege class” being one of the 25 highest in a class of 76 students, most of whom are married men and fathers. He is one of the youngest men in the class.

ENSIGN RINGERT G. DE MOTS
Ensign Ringert Glenn De Mots, SC, USNR was sworn into the Navy Dec. 23, 1943. He reported to Farragut, Idaho for his boot training on the 3rd of January, 1944. On the 24th of February he finished his boot training holding the rating of Yeoman 3/c. He was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Naval Reserve on May 17th and reported to the U. S. Naval Supply Corps school at Harvard, Boston, Mass. on the 9th of June. He expects to graduate from there on the 25th of October and be assigned sea duty. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit De Mots of Sioux Center.

Ringert De Mots Home On Leave
Ensign Ringert De Mots arrived at the home of his parents Mr. and Mrs. Gerrit De Mots on Saturday evening to spend a week’s leave. The ship to which he has been assigned is in port, and all of the men were given leave. They expect to leave the states again after about a month, as they have spent the past four weeks at San Diego, Calif. He plans to leave here again Sunday.

Ringert Glenn De Mots was born April 9, 1918 in Sioux Center, Iowa, where he lived when he entered the Navy on Dec. 23, 1943. He left for foreign service on Nov. 9, 1944, returned on April 30, 1946, and was assigned to inactive status under honorable conditions on June 30, 1946. His application for bonus pay was filed on Aug. 26, 1949, for which he received $345.00 bonus pay.
