East High Grad, Lieut. R. Anderson, Is Prisoner of War


Lieut. Robert O. Anderson, 21, a graduate of East High School and reported by the war department as missing in action over Germany as of January 31, is prisoner of war of the German government, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Anderson of Des Moines were informed Wednesday morning. The younger Anderson is a nephew of G. Albert Anderson, registrar for Sioux City Consistory 5.

Lieut. Anderson, a navigator on a bomber, was reported as missing following his first mission over Germany. He received his wings last August. His training was received at Nashville, Tennessee and later he was stationed at the airfield at Rapid City, South Dakota. He went overseas last December.

The family moved to Des Moines a few years ago.
