Herman J. Vanderharr, Cpl., Bty A., 584 AAA, Ft. Fischer, N.C., is still in the Coast Artillery service. He has been doing more training of men then truck driving since last Dec. He visited his folks and friends while changing from Camp Davis, N.C., to Ft. Fischer in February.

Cpl. Herman VanderHarr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank VonderHarr of Merrill, informed his parents of his safe arrival in France. The VanderHarr family are well remembered here, farming around this community for many years.

Herman J. Vanderhaar was born May 21, 1913 to Frank John and Catherine Tastove Vanderhaar. He died Feb. 14, 2010 and is buried in Fairview Cemetery, Lincoln, NE.
