Honor Marine Sergeant  

A group of friends and relatives gathered in the home of Mrs. Mary Goetzinger in Oyens Sunday afternoon in honor of her son, Sergeant Raymond Goetzinger, who is in the Marine Corps at San Diego.  Sgt. Goetzinger had been home on a 15-day furlough, and returned to San Diego this morning to the Marine Corps base, where he has been stationed since his enlistment June 15.

The following were present on Sunday:  Rev. Henry Karhoff, of Oyens; Sister Mary Michael and Sr. Mary Ambrose, of Alta Vista, Ia.; Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Gengler and family; Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gengler; Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Tentinger and family; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilmes and family; Mrs. Roy Sitzman of Remsen; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Schnepf and family; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Schnepf and family; Mr. and Mrs. Anton Hames and son Richard, of Oyens; Mr. and Mrs. Nick Goetzinger and family; Mike Goetzinger; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ruden and family of Alton; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Weber and family of Bridgewater, S. D.; Mr. and Mrs. Pete Theobald and son Robert of Heron Lake, Minn.; Mildred Sitzmann of Kingsley; and Marie Sitzmann, of LeMars.

SOLDIER NEWS.

Sgt. Ray Goetzinger, who is a motor mechanic at a Marine base at San Diego, is enjoying a 10-day leave at home.
