William Richard Rowland was born Nov. 24, 1922 to William Alfred and Maud L. Handy Rowland. He died Sept. 9, 1943 and is buried in North Lawn Cemetery, Fort Dodge, IA.

Aviation Cadet Rowland served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps Navigation School, San Marcos Army Air Field, San Marcos, TX and became missing while on a routine training flight and was later declared to have died on that flight.
