Chester Eugene Rudd was born June 22, 1922 to James Hugh and Nellie Mae Viola St. Clair Rudd. He died Mar. 22, 1943 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and in Oakland Cemetery, Fort Madison, IA.

Petty Officer Rudd served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Grampus (SS-207) and was MIA/FOD/KIA when that vessel was lost at sea, cause unknown. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
