Wilferd Joseph Gerlach was born Sept. 9, 1916 to Joseph H. and Mary Gerlach. He died Feb. 27, 1945 and is buried in Saint Josephs Catholic Cemetery, Preston, IA.

Sgt. Gerlach served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps and died of wounds received in action on Iwo Jima, Volcano Islands.

Floyd Galen Guyer was born July 22, 1920 to Floyd and Vlasta Josephine Wosoba Guyer. He died Feb. 28, 1942/FOD Dec. 15, 1945 and has a cenotaph in Mayflower Cemetery, Oxford Junction, IA. He is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Guyer served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Houston (CA-30) and was MIA/KIA/FOD when that ship was sunk at the Battle of Sunda Strait. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
