Lawrence Alvin Boekhoff was born Feb. 20, 1926 to Jan Ben and Mary Venderwerf Boekhoff. He died Dec. 25, 1944 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Normany American Cemetery Colleville-sur-Mer, France and has a cenotaph in Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery, Wellsburg, IA.

Pvt. Boekhoff served in World War II with the U.S. Army and was MIA/KIA in the European area. He was buried at sea and awarded the Purple Heart.
