Darrell E. Reed was born Oct. 2, 1922 to Donald and Carrie Reed. He died Apr. 29, 2012 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, IA.

Sgt. Reed served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps based in Tibenham, England where he was a radio operator on a B-24 Liberator. He and his 9 man crew flew 22 missions. They remained a close-knit group and held reunions every two years starting in the 1990’s. The final get-together was in 2005 at the WWII Memorial in Washington, D.C.

Floyd P. Reinert was born Dec. 27, 1922 to Peter and Emma Ament Reinert. He died June 17, 2015 and is buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Cherokee, IA.

Floyd served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Stoddard (DD-566).

Leonard Anthony Reinert was born Nov. 24, 1924 to Frank and Wilhelmina Redder Reinhart.

LeRoy Matthew Reinert was born July 29, 1924 to Andrew and Veronica L. Reinert. He died July 30, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines and in Maryhill Visitation Church Cemetery, Cherokee, IA.

Petty Officer Reinert served in World War II with the U.S. Navy and was MIA/FOD/KIA aboard the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) when that ship was torpedoed by a Japanese submarine and sank in 12 minutes. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
