Howard Francis Jenness was born Nov. 2, 1926 to Francis R. and Verna Lucille McCorkle Jenness. He died Oct. 26, 2001 and is buried in West Pilot Cemetery, Cherokee County, IA.

Howard served with the U.S. Navy in World War II with Air Transportation Squadron 12. He also served in Korea.

Pvt. Jenness served with the U.S. Army 603rd Tank Destroyer Battalion in World War II.

Pvt. Jenness served in World War II with the U.S. Army with the 102nd Field Artillery and 121st Cavalry Regiment. He was awarded the Purple Heart.
