Sgt. Anderson served in World War II with the U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Marine Division and was wounded in the battle for Tarawa in the Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Cpl. Archer served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps 447th Bomb Group, Third Air Division as a member of the ground crews servicing the B-17 Flying Fortresses out of England.
