Alva Donald Van Fleet was born Nov. 30, 1913 to Howard and Annie Zelphia Van Fleet. He died July 12, 1945 and is memorialized at the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Petty Officer Van Fleet served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Jarvis (DD-393) and was KIA, Pacific area, in the line of duty. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

Francis R. Van Vliet was born Mar. 2, 1912 to Sylvester George and Margaret Ellen “Ellen” Murphy Van Vliet. He died Feb. 19, 1943 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery, Waterloo, IA.

Pvt. Van Vliet served in World War II with the U.S. Army Infantry and died while in the service of his country.
