Robert Francis Kendrick was born Jan. 22, 1920 to Francis and Rosalyn Fisher Kendrick. He died Nov. 29, 1985 and is buried in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waterloo, IA. Francis served with the U.S. Army in World War II.

Mervin William Kerr was born Jan. 8, 1920 to Samuel Franklin and Gertrude Evelyn Klein Kerr. He died Sept. 11, 1943 and is memorialized at the Tablets of the Missing, Sicily-Rome American Cemetery, Nettuno, Italy.

Petty Officer Kerr served in World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Rowan (DD-405) and was MIA/FOD/KIA when that vessel was hit by a torpedo by a German E-boat and sank in less than a minute, taking 202 of her 273 officers and men with her. Those whose bodies were not recovered, were listed as MIA for a year and a day after the sinking.
