William Yancy Martin was born Apr. 8, 1916 to Charles A. and Bertha Marlow Martin. He died Aug. 14, 1992 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Adair County, IA.

Pvt. Martin served in World War II with the U.S. Army.

Ronald Eugene Mason was born Jan. 20, 1919 to Floyd Griffin and Nelle Fern Eatinger Mason. He died July 17, 2021 and is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA.

Ronald served in World War II with the U.S. Navy as a “Fly Boy”, joining the only Naval Squadron intercepting German ships and submarines going to and from the Mediterranean through the Straits of Gibraltar. After a year he returned stateside to an air base on Maryland’s Chesapeake Bay where he tested planes, flying them until they broke dow to see how long various parts would last. After hostilities ended, the Navy assigned him to Puerto Rico and Newfoundland before he mustered out as LtCdr.
To celebrate his 100th year, he parachuted out of an airplane for the first time, a story that landed on Page One of the Des Moines Register.

Robert Leroy Miller was born Apr. 2, 1922 to Raymond Francis and Agnes Marie Breheny Miller. He died Mar. 24, 1958 and is buried in Saint Josephs Cemetery, Walnut Township, Adair County, IA.

Sgt. Miller served with the U. S. Army Coast Artillery in World War II.

Lyle Norman Millhollin was born Nov. 18, 1924 to C. E. and Edna Welcher Millhollin. He died Mar. 22, 2017 and is buried in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Adel, IA>

Sgt. Millhollin served in World War II with the U.S. Army Air Corps as a radio operator on a B-24 bomber. He was awarded the Air Medal.
