Marilyn Delaney, seaman First Class, has reported at the naval air station at Olathe, Kansas, after spending a leave here with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond C. Delaney, 1422 W. Fifth Street. Seaman Delaney recently completed instruction at a control operator’s school at the naval air station, Atlanta, Georgia.

Sergeant James L. and Private First Class Bernard McFadden, stationed at Camp Miles Standish, , Massachusetts, are spending an eight-day furlough with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. McFadden, 2517 Jones Street.

Erwin L. Smith, first class petty officer, at home on leave accompanied by his wife and daughter from New York, have returned east after a visit in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Smith, 2522 Shields Avenue.

Private First Class Joseph McCampbell, released from six weeks hospitalization at Boston, Mass., has returned to spend a brief furlough with his mother, Mrs. Fern McCampbell and sister, Phyllis, 1318 Grandview Boulevard.

Sergeant Raymond D. Palmer, son of Mrs. Olive G. Palmer, 2115 Casselman Street, has been promoted to the rank of technical Sergeant according to a letter received by his mother. Sergeant Palmer is a graduate of Central High School. He has been overseas for 17 months and now is in the Sicilian war area.

Private First Class, Wilmer R. Towns, Jr. son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilmer R. Towns, 407 Buckwalter Drive, has been appointed a cadet in the army specialized training program at Muskingum College, New Concord, O. Cadet Towns is a graduate of Central High School and attended Morningside College. Originally he was stationed at Camp Beale, California in the field artillery.

Robert S. Bartram, formerly of 500 Waugh Street, now is a seaman and member of the Lone Star battalion with the United States navy, stationed at San Francisco.

R.C. Anderson, whose home address is 814 Court Street, is a seaman of the Lone Star Battalion with the United States Navy and at present is stationed at San Francisco, California.

William Taylor, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Meyers, 609 Bluff Street, was recently promoted to the rank of sergeant after being graduated from the aerial gunnery and fire control school at the army air base, Wendover field, Utah.

Private Sidney Okim, son of Mr. and Mrs. I. Okim, 1500 W. 16th Street, is taking basic training at the army’s military police replacement training center at Fort Custer, Michigan.

Aviation Cadet Wallace J. Jarman, son of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Jarman, 1011 Seventh Street, will be graduated this week from the army air force pilot school at Fort Sumner, New Mexico. He will receive a commission as second lieutenant and will be entitled to wear the silver wings of a flying officer.

Clarence Heck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Heck, 2601 W. 19th Street, has completed basic training at Kessler army field, Mississippi and is now stationed at Scott field, Illinois, where he is attending radio operator’s and mechanic’s school.

Cadet Charles Ray Glanville, son of Mr. and Mrs. Milburn R. Glanville, 5307 Sixth Avenue, has reported to Greenwood army air field as a student in basic flight training. He is a graduate of East High School and became an aviation cadet at Madison, Wisconsin.

Estherville, Iowa – Pharmacist’s Mate First Class Richard F. Henderson of Estherville, recently received his promotion to that rank. He is stationed in the south Pacific area.

Estherville, Iowa—Maj. William Boice, son-in-law of Mrs. J.W. Morse of Estherville has recently returned from service in Ireland. He has been transferred to a post in Dallas, Texas. Mrs. Boice and their son will join him there.

Mapleton, Iowa—Private Elmer C. Cooper of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, is spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Cooper of Mapleton.

Moorhead, Iowa – Donald A. York, seaman second class, has returned to Farragut, Idaho, after a 15-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert York.

Paullina, Iowa—Private D. Junck, boatswain mate first class, who has been stationed at Pearl Harbor for the last three years, spent a 15-day furlough at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Junck.

Westfield, Iowa – Sergeant Arthur R. Beck, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry F. Beck, recently was graduated from the army air force factory training school at the Republic Aviation corporation in Farmingdale, New York.

Private Eugene E. Hanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Hanson, 1209 14th Street, recently underwent an operation at the base hospital at Buckley field, Colorado.

Naval Cadet Robert E. Reinke, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.R. Reinke, 601 Casselman Street, has reported for naval preparatory flight training at Liberty, Missouri. He was formerly a second class petty officer in the coast guards and is a graduate of Central High School.

Charles Maxwell, merchant marines, son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles T. Maxwell, 3905 Country Club Boulevard, has reported for duty at Hoffman Island, New York.

Lieut. H.A. Epperson, assistant flight commander at the Greenville, South Carolina air base is spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H.H. Epperson, 1729 S. Patterson Street.

Frank S. Swanson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Swanson, 2029 Cedar Street, has been promoted to the grade of private first class in the headquarters battery of the Fort Braggs, North Carolina field artillery replacement training center.

Robert M. Williamson, seaman second class of the Seabees, stationed at Endicott, R.I., is spending a furlough with his father, D.C. Williamson. He was accompanied to Sioux City by his wife, who resides in Fargo, N.D. Other relatives present were his brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Williamson of Carroll and his sister Bonnie of Omaha.

Dell W Long has been promoted to the rank of sergeant first class, according to word received by his wife, who resides at the Baxter apartments. Sergeant Long, who is now on maneuvers in the DoSoto National Forest Louisiana, recently was awarded the good conduct medal for meritorious service and efficiency.

Paul Snyder, seaman second class, stationed at Farragut, Idaho, is home on leave, visiting his wife and child at their home, 1720 George Street. Seaman Synder attended Morningside College and before he entered service he was choir director at the First Presbyterian Church.

Harold B. Shelton of Sioux City was recently graduated from the naval training school for aviation on Navy Pier, Chicago.

Kenneth B. Scott, whose wife Mrs. Lillie May Scott resides at 1417 Douglas Street, has reported for training at the naval training school, Farragut, Idaho.

Private Julian L. Torgerson, son of Mrs. O Torgerson, 1705 Grandview Boulevard, is receiving training with the Marine Corps at Gustavus Adolphus College, St. Peter, Minnesota.

Hornick, Iowa—Staff Sergeant Richard D. Means recently spent a 10-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Means and grandmother, Mrs. Gertrude E. Means. Sergeant Means is a former student of Hornick high school and member of the basket ball team. He has returned to his present base at Fort Dix, New Jersey.

Lawton, Iowa—Private First Class Harold E. Robinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Robinson, is receiving training at the armament school, Lowry field, Colorado.

Pierson, Iowa – Second Lieut. Roy M. Sargent, United States Marine Corps reserve is spending a leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sargent, before returning to Santa Ana, California.

Moville, Iowa – Mrs. Art Willer has received word that her son, Darrell Willer, seaman second class, has been transferred from Bremerton, Washington, to Dutch Harbor.

Moville, Iowa – Harold Nash, who is in the V-5 naval air corps, has received his call and reported to Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa.

Odebolt, Iowa – Lyle Siebrecht, on police duty in North Africa, recently sent his sister, Mrs. Edward Christiansen, and his mother, Mrs. Ulto Siebrecht, each a rug made in Africa. He has been in the service over two years.

Odebolt, Iowa – Aviation Cadet Robert L. Story recently visited his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Story. He has received his gunner’s wings at Kingman, Arizona and is being transferred to the bombardier school at Victorville, California.

Odebolt, Iowa – Robert A. Mason of the merchant marines has returned to New York City after a few days leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harlo Mason.

Odebolt, Iowa -- Sergeant Alfred Gute of Camp Kohler, Sacramento, California is spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gute.

Odebolt, Iowa – Chaplain (first lieutenant) Alrik Blomguist has finished training at Harvard University and is now on duty at Camp Hood, Texas. Before taking training, Chaplain Blomguist was pastor of the Arthur Baptist Church.

Odebolt, Iowa – Private Raymond Glass left for Camp Carson, Colorado, after spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Glass.

Hartley, Iowa – William Mark, chief petty officer of the navy, left Tuesday morning for San Francisco after spending a leave here in the home of his sister, Mrs. George Dreller, with his small son, Billy.

Hartley, Iowa – Lieut. Kermit Hansen, a bombardier, is a prisoner of the German government. He was forced to bail out of his plane over enemy territory August 17. He is in a prison camp located near Berlin. He is suffering from wounds.

Hartley, Iowa – Machinist Mate Second Class Marvin Rost is enjoying a week’s leave from the navy with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Rost. This is his first visit home since joining the navy two years ago.

Hartley, Iowa – Mr. and Mrs. John Linder have received word that their son Robert is in North Africa.

Hartley, Iowa – Mrs. Sophia Lage received a letter from her son, Private First Class Arthur J. Lage, stating that he is in Britain.

Hartley, Iowa – Ray Rumper left Tuesday after enjoying a 15-day leave. He has been taking his boot training at the naval base at Farragut, Idaho.

Akron, Iowa- Lieut. Neil McLane is visiting his wife and children before being transferred to Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.

Akron, Iowa—Private Sam Mirkin and wife of Camp Breckenridge, Kentucky, visited a few days in the home of his sister, Mrs. Pete Heger and family.

Akron, Iowa—Corporal Technician Leslie Miller has returned to Camp Rucker, Alabama, after a 15-day furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Miller, west of town.

Akron, Iowa—Roger Johnson, who has been taking army student training at Washington University, St. Louis, is visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Johnson, before being transferred to Camp Grant, Illinois.

Akron, Iowa-- Mr. and Mrs. James Coleman, south of town, have just returned from Corpus Christi, Texas where they attended the graduation of their son, Cadet James Coleman, at the United States Naval Aviation Training Center, where he received his gold wings and a commission as second lieutenant in the marine air corps. He now is stationed at Hollywood, Florida.

Akron, Iowa—Private Jack Gusman, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Gusman, who has been at Camp Roberts, California, is now at the University of Wyoming, taking training.

Akron, Iowa-- Lowell Morehead, stationed at naval barracks at Oakland, California is spending a 14-day leave with relatives and friends.

Akron, Iowa—Maj. And Mrs. M.O. Larson of Camp Bowie, Texas, are visiting in the home of his sister, Mrs. Orien Harris, north of town.

Rolfe, Iowa – Maurice A. Larson has been awarded the decoration of the order of the Purple Heart. He saw service with the navy in the Philippines early in the war.

Des Moines, Iowa – William B. Ellerbroek, Sheldon, Iowa merchant, was commissioned as a lieutenant in the navy and will report July 5, for training at the supply corps school at Wellesley, Mass. Raymond A. Labounty, who has been an instructor at the Lincoln army air base was commissioned an ensign. He will report July 3 to the training school at Cornell University, Ithaca, New York.

Emmetsburg, Iowa -- Corporal Ted Goeders, who is somewhere in Australia, was surprised recently when his cousin, Sergeant Warren Kliegl walked into his barracks. Sergeant Kliegl is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kliegl of Mallard and has been in Australia for some time. The boys were stationed only two miles apart. Other Palo Alto county boys in Australia are Elmer Gunn and Bud Hildebrand both of Emmetsburg, and Kenneth Hennigsen of Graettinger.

Emmetsburg, Iowa – Miss Dorothy Bauck, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.L. Bauck, has been sworn into the Marine Corps at Des Moines and now is in Emmetsburg awaiting call to active duty. Private Bauck is a graduate of Hamilton School of Commerce and Miles State Teachers College and has been employed at the bureau of internal revenue in Washington, D. C.

Quimby, Iowa – Private James Bevins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bevins, Quimby, has been awarded the order of the Purple Heart. Private Bevins was wounded July 30 while serving in the south Pacific. In a letter to his parents, written September 14, he reported he is recovering.

LeMars, Iowa – Max Rickabaugh, son of Mr and Mrs. C. Rickabaugh is home on a 26-day leave, which he will spend with his parents. Max has been in active service on Henderson field, Guadalcanal, having three stars on his Asiatic service ribbon, showing that he took part in three major battles.

LeMars, Iowa—Sergeant Alvin Patterson, who is attending the University of Maryland at College Park, Maryland, is spending a short furlough with his mother, Mrs. Kate Patterson.

LeMars, Iowa—Private Vincent Plendl has returned to Camp Haan, California, following a 10-day furlough spent in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Val Plendl.

LeMars, Iowa—Sergeant Leo Anderson of Camp Bowie, Texas, was granted a short furlough which he spent with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred H. Anderson. Sergeant Anderson is in the medical corps.

LeMars, Iowa—Melvin Siebels, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Siebels, is spending a 10-day leave with his parents. Melvin holds the rating of radio man third class.

LeMars, Iowa—Fred Wood, son of Mrs. Ruby Wood, has received a commission in the navy. His rating will be that of lieutenant, second grade. At present Lieut. Wood is superintendent of schools at Mallard, Iowa.

Sheldon, Iowa—Private Elmer Brown of Sheldon, who has been receiving treatment for a serious injured foot at the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, arrived in Sheldon. He was injured in action in North Africa last spring.

Sheldon, Iowa—Roger Ramsey of Sheldon, who has been stationed at Camp Maxey, Texas, has been transferred to Charleston, South Carolina.

Battle Creek, Iowa – Mr. and Mrs. Hans Schumacher, farmers living one mile west of town, received word this week that their son, Private Hans Schumacher, Jr., was seriously injured on September 13 while serving in the North African area. Private Schumacher has been with the armed forces since April 1942 and has participated in several major engagements.

Estherville, Iowa—Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Gordinier of Minneapolis, former Estherville residents, have received word that their son, Sheldon (Tuffy) Gordinier, former Estherville High School and Iowa University football and track star has been promoted to first lieutenant in the naval air corps. Lieut. Gordinier is stationed at Norfolk, West Virginia.

Oyens, Iowa – Harold J. Kemp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe J. Kemp, visited at his home on a short furlough the last week, Kemp is stationed at Norfolk, Virginia.

Oyens, Iowa – V.J. Doud has departed after spending a 10-day furlough, for Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Doud is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Doud.

Oyens, Iowa – Frank Greten has received an honorable discharge from the army, after serving with his nation’s forces over 17 months.

Oyens, Iowa – Mrs. Caroline Harnack received word this week of her son, Corporal Robert Harnack, telling of his safe arrival overseas.

Oyens, Iowa—Dr. F. W. Twenstrup, former dentist at Remsen, before he was commissioned in the army more than two years ago, has been promoted to the rank of major. Maj. Twenstrup is located at the army radio school at Sioux Falls.

Inwood, Iowa – Second Lieut. Talvin Roraus, 21, of Aloe field, Victoria, Texas visited his mother, Mrs. Lehore Roraus and sisters in the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Holland, here. He was recently commissioned and received his wings. He has been transferred to Tallahassee, Florida. A younger brother, Private First Class Lawrence Roraus, 18, who is a Marine stationed in New Zealand, has not been home for two years.

Inwood, Iowa – Private First Class and Mrs. Walter Bobeldyk of Pine Camp, New York, are visiting with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bobeldyk.

Inwood, Iowa – Sergeant Floyd Halstenson of Fort Rustin, Virginia, is spending his furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. T. Halstenson.

Odebolt, Iowa—Private Howard L. Konrady, son of Mr. and Mrs. Nick Konrady, is now at Golden, Colorado where he is attending Colorado School of Mines.

Odebolt, Iowa—Aviation Cadet Richard Frevert, son of Mr. and Mrs. F.A. Frevert, has been transferred from a signal corps station in Oregon to New Jersey.

Odebolt, Iowa—Delbert Eugene Wunschel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Wunschel, has started recruit training at the naval station at Farragut, Idaho.

Odebolt, Iowa—Mr. and Mrs. Emil Olson received a telegram from Washington stating that their son, Lieut. Robert Olson has been wounded slightly in action in North Africa September 9.

Odebolt, Iowa—Mrs. R.R. Landry has received word from her husband, Dr. Landry, pharmacist’s mate, second class, that his right hand was injured in line of duty. He is somewhere in the southwest Pacific.

Odebolt, Iowa—Donald McGonigle, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. R. McGonigle, came here to visit his parents. He has completed a course in a radio school at the University of Houston, Houston, Texas and was given the rating of petty officer, radio technician. He will leave for Corpus Christi, Texas, where he will take a six-month course in radio work.

Moville, Iowa—Master Sergeant and Mrs. Cleo Wilkinson of Omaha visited Sergeant Wilkinson’s mother, Mrs. Bernice Wilkinson.

Moville, Iowa—Private Mark Funk of Camp Carson, Colorado, was called home because of the illness of his mother.

Moville, Iowa-- Howard Russell Griep, seaman first class, is spending a 10-day leave in the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Griep. He has crossed the ocean seven times and is now stationed at Long Beach, California.

Moville, Iowa—Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Metcalf have received word their son, Rex, machinist’s mate second class is now the Seabees in the Aleutians.

Moville, Iowa—Lieut. Barbara Short is stationed in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri. She has signed up for overseas duty. Lieut. Short was formerly a resident of Moville.

Moville, Iowa—Kenneth Stiffe of Inglewood, California formerly of Moville has enlisted as a naviation army cadet.

Hospers, Iowa—Private First Class and Mrs. Ted Ruisch of a camp in Texas, spent several days in the Walter Swets home.

Corporal Vernon Kozisek returned to Camp Blanding, Florida after spending a 15-day furlough with his wife at the home of E.K. Larson, 321 George Street.

Frank G. Kirsch, son of Mrs. Frank Kirsch, 3117 Sixth Avenue, has been promoted to staff sergeant. He is stationed at Camp Edwards, Massachusetts, with the engineer amphibian command.

Private First Class Robert A. Olsen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Olsen, 1520 Dale Street, has completed a course in radio school at Scott field, Arizona and has been sent to gunnery school at Kingman, Arizona.

Private First Class Lyle A. Armstrong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Armstrong, 4127 Stone Park Boulevard, has recently qualified as an aviation cadet and will be sent to an A.A.F. School for preflight training. He has been serving at Brooks field, Texas as an airplane mechanic.

Corporal Ralph Betsworth and wife of Port Angeles, Washington will leave Friday after visiting here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Betsworth, 1624 S. Lunah Street and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Morgan, 1207 W. Second Street.

Private John W. Rathbun has returned to Camp Callan, San Diego, California after spending a furlough with his mother, Mrs. Pauline Rathbun, 409 14th Street.

Frank H. Batman Jr., 23, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank H. Batman, 3616 Vine Avenue, has recently been promoted to major in the army. He graduated from Kelly field, Texas Cadet Training in 1941 and is now stationed at Baton Rouge, La.

Edgar W. Junker, former employee of Galinsky Bros. Co., Sioux City, was recently promoted to captain in the coastal artillery corps.

Technician Corporal Edward Scurlock has returned to Camp Barkeley, Texas, after spending a furlough with his parents, Mr. and Mrs., Clinton Scurlock, 906 Pacific Street.

Wilfred J. Carey, private first class, stationed at Camp Bowie, Texas, is spending a 10-day furlough with his mother, Mrs. Mary Carey, and sister, Mrs. Tom McCarville, 3435 Nebraska Street and Mrs. A.H. Meinen, 1125 S. Newton Street.

Private Helen A. Stanton, a native of Onawa and a former civilian employee at the Sioux City army air base, is visiting friends here and in Onawa, following four months of service in the WAC, Private Stanton has been on duty in a hospital unit at Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Jack E. Slutsky, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Slutsky, 501 Steuben Street, who is stationed at Camp Miles Standish, Mass., was recently promoted to Sergeant. He entered the service in April 1943.

Charles R. Gresse, a former employee of Swift & Co., Sioux City, has recently been promoted from corporal to sergeant. He is a present stationed in England with the eighth army air force.

Private First Class William Ward Watson, son of Mrs. Cleo Watson, 121, Perry Street, has been transferred from Fort Des Moines, Iowa to the medical technical school at Springfield, Mo., where he is training as a surgical technician.

Lynn D. Poole, stationed at Victorville, Cal., has been promoted to the rank of captain in the public relations department according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Poole, 2120 McDonald Avenue.

Private First Class Lloyd A. Stein, who has been a German prisoner of war since February 17, sent several communications to his parents, Mr. and Mrs. B.W. Stein, 1718 Douglas Street, stating that he was in good health and was grateful to the Red Cross for the food packages. Having been overseas since May, 1942, Private Stein has been stationed somewhere in Ireland, Algiers and Tunisia where he was captured.

Corporal Edward F. Pendergast, son of Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Pendergast, 2022 Grandview boulevard, has been transferred to the University of New Hampshire, Durham, from North Camp Polk, Louisiana. He is taking the army specialized training program.

Ralph Wayne King, seaman second class has arrived in Sioux City to visit his aunt, Mrs. Elmer Skinner, 1511 Villa Avenue after an absence of a year and a half.

Armstrong, Iowa-- Private First Class Arnold Gangestad, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gangestad, is home on furlough from the general hospital at Staunton, West Virginia where he has been since July 25, receiving treatment for wounds suffered in the north Africa campaign. Private Gangestad was wounded by shrapnel which struck his right shoulder. He wears the Purple Heart award, a ribbon for six months service before Pear Harbor, one for the Atlantic crossing and the African campaign ribbon with four stars for four stars for four major battle engagements.

Emmetsburg, Iowa – Lieut. Joseph W. Gleason, 25, son of Mr. and Mrs. R.A. Gleason of Ruthven, has been awarded the air medal and bronze oak leaf cluster for meritorious achievement in aerial photography over the enemy lines in northwest Africa. The awards were made for five or more sorties against the enemy. Mr. and Mrs. Gleason have two other sons in the service. Sergeant Raymond is stationed at Maryville, California in the antiaircraft division and Edmund is an air cadet at Columbia, South Carolina.

Pierson, Iowa—Staff Sergeant Harold Walters of Greenville, South Carolina, was home on a 10-day furlough visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Walters and family. He left Monday for South Carolina.

Onawa, Iowa—Robert Bearce, in the navy, who was with the invasion forces at Attu Island in the Aleutians, has brought home several Jap trophies. Seaman Bearce spent several days in Onawa and Whiting the past week. Among the souvenirs was a large unexploded shell, with the Jap emblem on it, and a ring taken from a dead Jap.

Sheldon, Iowa – Harry Frohwein of Sheldon has been transferred to the Sioux Falls air base from Sheppard field, Texas.

Sheldon, Iowa – Leo A. Pohl, stationed at Victoria, Kansas with the army air force, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant.

Sheldon, Iowa – Earl W. Harnack, stationed at Campbell field, Kentucky, has been promoted to the rank of corporal.

Storm Lake, Iowa- Merritt Lutter has been promoted to the rank of corporal. He is stationed at Hughesville, Maryland, according to word received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Haarup.

Rembrandt, Iowa—Lieut. George R. (Dick) Kidman, has completed several bombing missions over enemy territory from north Africa. He is a son of Mrs. Earl Sauter.

Storm Lake, Iowa—Leonard Juergens returned to naval duty after spending a brief leave here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Juergens. He is stationed aboard a light cruiser.

Salix, Iowa—Amedie Cabana returned home on a 12-day furlough from Pendleton field, Oregon, to visit his parents, Mr and Mrs. Omer Cabana.

Early, Iowa—Richard C. Fulcher has been promoted to first lieutenant, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Fulcher of Early, have been informed. Lieut. Fulcher entered the service in October, 1941, and is now at Camp Roberts, California.

Early, Iowa—Merton William Arnett, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. M.N. Arnett, has begun his recent training at the naval training station at Farragut, Idaho.

Mr. and Mrs. Sipma have another son in the service and a daughter, Sergeant Mary Sipma, stationed at Daytona Beach, Florida in the Wacs.
