Decorah Public Opinion, Decorah, Iowa, Tuesday, April 18, 1939 This list of Winneshiek County Volunteers
in the service of the United States in the Civil War,
1861 - 1865, was compiled by William Linnevold, former
Decorah postmaster, and as may be imagined, represents a
tremendous amount of labor on his part. Public
Opinion believes that a large majority of those on
this list, have descendants who are now residents of
Winneshiek County. We are printing the list in its
entirety this week with the thought that a large number
of readers will want to clip same and file for future
reference - perhaps pasting the list on cardboard in
order to preserve it in better shape. The total alphabetical
list of those who served from Winneshiek County. |
