Reuben and Vernice had five children: Dianne married Jack Blazek, Lawler. Beverly married Jerry Frey, Mason City, IA. Mary Ann married Hulio Esquival, Las Vegas, NV. Le Alyn married Cindy Tomashek, Steamboat Springs, CO. Marcia married Bob Howell, Las Vegas, NV.

Reuben died in 1989 and is buried at New Hampton City Cemetery.

John J. Swehla married Albina Ondrashek October 26, 1914.

Daniel and Elsie Swehla have farmed in Winneshiek Co. since their marriage in 1957. They have 5 adult children: Mary, Audrey, Terri, Janine and John.

Mary is married to Karl Clapp. They have 3 daughters: Eryn (13), Kelley (12) and Leslie (4 months). Karl and Mary live in Marion, IA.

Janine is married to Kevin Russell. They have 3 children: twins Lindee and Shelley (10) and Joe (7). Kevin and Janine live in Waverly, IA.

John and his wife, Dawn live in Stockton, IL where he is an agronomist and she teaches school.

Daniel Swehla's great grandfather, Franticek Swehla, was born and raised in Albreitice, Czech Republic. His son, Frank (b. 1857), immigrated to America and farmed west of Spillville. Frank’s wife was Catherine Kubesh. They were married in 1877 and were among the first settlers of Spillville. They had 4 daughters and 4 sons - one of whom was John (b. 1885). John married Albina Ondrashek. John and Albina lived in Spillville. They built a house in back of the blacksmith shop he operated and raised a family of 4 sons and one daughter. This building is still standing and is part of Spiilville's tourist attractions. John and Albina were Daniel’s parents. He remembers running through
