The stone house is still standing just northwest of Bluffton, Iowa on the Upper Iowa River.

Sarah and Milo are buried in Russell Cemetery. Clara married Philip Halse. Their children were: Philip, Daniel, Ralph, Ernest, William, John and Harold. John (1856-1870) is buried in Russell Cemetery. William H.. single, is buried in Russell Cemetery. Andrew J. (1856-1931) married Elizabeth E. Headington (1864-19—). Their children were: Floyd, Harry, Walter, Fred, Arthur, Stella (Tillotson), Ruby (Erickson), Myrtle (Baker) and Clyde. Both Andrew and Elizabeth are buried in Russell Cemetery. Ralph married Ellen Eliot. They had one child, Mary (1888-1944) who remained single. Ralph and Ellen are buried in St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Bluffton, IA. Ellen (b. 1863) married William Headington (b. 1858). Their children were: Wallace, Paul E., Bess (Burrack) and May (McLain). Both are buried in Phelps Cemetery. Josephine (1866-1954) married Fred Denver (1860-1956). They had no children. They are buried in Russell Cemetery. Edward J. (1871-1952) married Nellie Keck (1874-1956). Their children were: Lester and Pearl (Bushman). They are buried in St. Benedict's Cemetery, Decorah. Charles Hutton (1873-1954) married Stella Mary Headington (1879-1960). Their children were: Myrtle (Vine), Lloyd, Marian (Quandahl) and Kenneth. Both are buried in Russell Cemetery. Mathilde ML (b. 1866) married Lewis Burrack of Detroit, Ml. They had no children.

Shatek, Roger and Lori (Kapler)

Roger Shatek, son of Wesley and Irene (Hackman) Shatek, was born on a farm near Lourdes. He attended Our Lady of Lourdes School and graduated from New Hampton High School. He earned his commercial electrician diploma at Northeast Iowa Technical Institute in 1973 and since then has been employed as Maintenance Electrician at the Kitchens of Sara Lee in New Hampton.

Lori Kapler was born the daughter of Norbert and Louise (Huber) Kapler. Lori attended St. Wenceslaus Catholic School for six years and from grade 7 through 12, she attended South Winneshiek. After attending the University of Northern Iowa, she was employed as Production Control Secretary at CamCar in Decorah. At present she is employed by the U.S. Postal Service as clerk/carrier at Cresco, IA.

Roger and Lori were married 29 Sep 1979 by Lori’s cousin, Rev. Herbert Hayek, in the St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church. Roger and Lori have four children: Leah, Neil, Katie, and Paul. Leah (a sophomore) and Neil (a freshman) attend South Winneshiek School. Katie (3rd grade) and Paul (1 st grade) attend C.F.S. Catholic School in Spillville.

The family live on and work the Huber farm west of Spillville in Sumner Twp., making them the fifth generation of the Huber ancestry. This farm was purchased 15 Jun 1855 from the General Land Office of Dubuque by Lori’s great-great-great-grandparents, Michael and Ursula (Schreiber) Huber, who came to America from Switzerland. After Michael, the following generations owned and operated this farm: great-grandparents, John and Magdelena (Herzog) Huber (1875-1910); grandparents, George and Rose (Klimesh) Huber (1910-1960); and parents, Norbert and Louise (Huber) Kapler (1960-1981).

Shattuck, Linda Lou

(Alfred Kvammen)

Linda Lou Shattuck was born in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Robert and Ethel (Sandbeck) Shattuck. She graduated from Decorah High School, the Allen Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Waterloo, IA, and received her B.S. Degree from Chapman University, Orange, CA. Linda was employed at Allen Memorial Hospital for two years after graduating from nursing school.
