in 1969. She attended Youngs Beauty School in Cedar Rapids and worked as a beautician for 2 years in the Cedar Rapids area. Harold and Marlys have been farming since their marriage. They now farm in Fremont Twp., Winneshiek Co. Harold has been a sports fan all his life, playing baseball when younger in both Little and Babe Ruth Leagues, and later in high school and college he played basketball and baseball and was on the track team. He still plays slow-pitch softball in two leagues and also bowls.

Harold and Marlys belong to First Lutheran Church in Cresco. They enjoy playing ball and going to all the activities of their children at Crestwood Schools, Cresco. Jodi, Derek and Todd are all in band and Derek is also in baseball, basketball, football and track at the Crestwood High School.

Marc Wayne Rosendahl was born at Decorah, IA to Merlin Phillip and Elsie Lavonne (Moen) Rosendahl. Merlin was born in Glenwood Twp., Winneshiek Co., near Decorah and Elsie was born in Decorah. Merlin and Elsie were married 21 Apr 1946 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah by Dr. T A. Hoff. Marc's brothers and sister are: Gerald Phillip; Harold Lester; and Merlene Marie, all born in Decorah.

Marc married Kathleen Marie Engelhardt 2 Jan 1954. Kathleen is the daughter of Melvin and Amy (Dahms) Engelhardt. Melvin was born 6 Mar 1915 at Monona, IA in Clayton Co. and Amy was born at Castalia, IA. Melvin and Amy were married 26 Oct 1945 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA.

Marc and Kathy were married 4 May 1974 at the Burr Oak Lutheran Church, Burr Oak, IA by Rev. Bernhard Polesky. They have 2 children: Misti and Kyle, both born at the Caledonia, MN hospital. Misti Dawn is a Junior at the North Winneshiek Community School in Winneshiek Co. She has been active in basketball, volleyball and band and has also been in the Spring and Fall plays since 7th grade. Kyle Wayne is in 9th grade at North Winneshiek Community School. He has been involved in sports, mainly basketball and baseball.

Marc attended grade school in Burr Oak and graduated from North Winneshiek High School in May 1973. He took a one-year course in masonry at Northeast Iowa Community College at Calmar, IA. Kathy attended the country schools of Winneshiek Co. and graduated from North Winneshiek High School in May 1972. She attended Northeast IA Community College for the General Clerical course. Marc and Kathy spent several years in Dallas, TX where he was working as a mason and Kathy did day care. One of the buildings Marc worked on was the famous Book Depository where he helped build a new lobby and elevator leading to the sixth floor exhibit. The family moved back to the Decorah area in 1989 to continue his work. He now works with Berger Construction Co. of Waukon, IA. Kathy is the payroll clerk for the Fred Carlson Co. in Decorah. Marc has always been a sports fan. He played in Little League Baseball as well as basketball, baseball and track throughout high school and college and continues to play in slow-pitch softball leagues during the summer. The family belongs to the Lutheran Church in Burr Oak.

Merlin Phillip Rosendahl was born in Glenwood Twp., Winneshiek Co. to Gilbert Melvin and Pearl Henrietta (Brynsaas) Rosendahl. Gilbert was born 22 Jul 1898 and Pearl was born 14 May 1901, both in Glenwood Twp. Gilbert and Pearl were married 30 Nov 1921 at the Norwegian Lutheran Church in Glenwood Twp. by Rev. 0. Brevik. Merlin’s brother and sister were: Charles Horace and Hazel Catherine both in Glenwood Twp.Merlin married Elsie Lavonne Moen. Elsie was born  in Decorah to August Eliam and Marie Juliet (Bakke) Moen. August was born 29 May 1895 and Marie was born 2 Jun 1897, both in Glenwood Twp. They were married 21 Nov 1924 at Iowa City, IA. Elsie’s brothers are: Kenneth Arnold (in St. Paul, MN); John Alvin (b. in Decorah); and James Arthur (b. in Decorah).

Merlin and Elsie were married on Easter Sunday 21 Apr 1946 at First Lutheran Church in Decorah by Dr. T A. Hoff. They had 4 children: Gerald Phillip; Harold Lester; Marc Wayne; and Merlene Marie. All were born in Decorah.Merlin and Elsie belonged to the Burr Oak Lutheran Church, Burr Oak, IA and the Harmony, MN Golf and Country Club. Merlin was an avid sports fan all his life. He played lots of baseball and softball in the Decorah area for many years. He also learned to play the piano by ear and was soon on the accordion and guitar and singing. In a short time the whole family joined in and had their own little band. They spent many hours playing together. Other family members and friends were enjoying it. Merlin retired from Northeast Farm Service Co., Decorah, in 1989 after working there in various positions for 30 years. Elsie retired in 1989 after working at the North
