teacher and President of WELCA at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Decorah. Her hobbies include: knitting, crocheting, wreath making and other various kinds of crafts. She also likes to read various kinds of books. In between all of this she has taught herself to play the flute.

Children of Jody and Donna are: Sarah Mae and Andre Lee. Both children were born in Decorah.

Koenig, Leonard and Florence (Snitker)

Leonard Charles Koenig, son of Fred and Alma (Schlie) Koenig was born 20 Sep 1919 in Bloomfield Twp. He was one of a family of six sons. His brothers were: Harlen, Verne, Milton, Loren and Earl. He helped his parents with farming until his brothers could be responsible for the home farm. Then he worked out as a hired man for other farmers in the area. He attended school at Oak Hill near his home. He married Florence Snitker on 20 Jan 1943 at the home of her parents in Ludlow Twp near Waukon, IA. Florence was born, the daughter of August and Martha (Becker) Snitker. Her sisters and brother were: Mildred (Sohn), Norma (Kruger), Inez (Gerleman), Loraine (Kruger), Ruby (Koenig), Laverne (Koester) and Ralph. She had a twin brother who died in infancy.

Leonard and Florence farmed for 21 years as renters.

In 1964 they moved to Cresco, IA where Leonard became a D.H.I.A. Supervisor for Howard Co. About a year later they moved to Postville where he held the same position for the D.H.I.A. in Allamakee and Clayton Counties.

They were the parents of five children: The first two, Karen and Sharon were twins. They were born at Decorah. Karen married Gary West 12 Sep 1965. They were divorced. They were the parents of 2 daughters, Tami Jo and Tara Lee. Karen lives in Decorah.

Sharon married Richard Marsh. They had a son, Brandon. Brandon married Sarah Cooper. They are the parents of Megan and Matthew. They live in Rochester, MN. Richard Marsh died in a car accident 29 Jan 1971. Sharon married Gary Johnson 7 Jun 1975, and they are the parents of a son, Brent (b. at Decorah). Brent graduated from Decorah High School in 1994. He is a student at Buena Vista College. They live in Decorah.

Ronald Lee, was born 8 Sep 1948 at Elkader, IA. He was killed in a car accident on 25 Feb 1967 near Marion, IA. He was 18 years old. His funeral was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He is buried in the Postville Cemetery.

Leon was born 12 May 1954 at McGregor, IA. Leon died 12 Jul 1964 at the age of 10. His death was the result of an explosion caused by gas fumes in the basement of a service station in Castalia. His funeral was held at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. He is buried in the Postville Cemetery.

James Dean was born at Postville. James married Darlene Gerleman 25 Jul 1981 at St. Lucas, IA. They live in Byron, MN. Darlene is a registered nurse at

Mayo Clinic in Rochester. They are the parents of 3 children: Joseph, Dawn and Danielle.

Leonard’s wife Florence died from complications following heart surgery at Rochester 11 Mar 1984. Leonard is retired and lives in Postville. The couple were twenty-year members of the Iowa State D.H.I.A. Supervisors Assn, and members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville.

Cathy, Lon and Rachei Koenig.

Lon Koenig was born at Postville, IA, the son of Orville and Irene (Bachelder) Koenig. He attended school in Postville and graduated from Postville High School.

Lon Koenig and Cathy Richardson were married 27 Jul 1990 at Postvilie. Cathy was born  at Belvidere, IL. Her parents are Laverne Richardson and Darlene Richardson-Perry. Cathy graduated from Crestwood High School in Cresco, IA.

Lon started driving semi-trucks when out of high school and still continues to drive semi-trucks. He has a strong interest in the history of railroading, and has made a hobby of collecting railroad memorabilia. Cathy works for Double L at Monona, IA where she does bookkeeping. She enjoys doing craft work.

They have a daughter Rachel. She attends Postville School. They are members of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Postville. They live in a second farm home in Section 23, Bloomfield Twp, which was the original farm of Lon’s grandparents.
