Mae Caroline married Wallace Christopherson 10 Sep 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Locust, IA. They have 4 children: Carsten Clarence, Barbara Ann and Beverly Kay (twins), and Debra Rae. Carsten is married to Barbara Wanless and they have 2 boys. Barbara is married to John Wilken. They have a boy and a girl. Beverly is married to Merle Headington. They have 2 girls. Debra is married to John Williams. They have no children.

Clarence and Mildred farmed almost their entire lives on a farm in Canoe Twp in Winneshiek Co, approximately three miles west of the Locust Church.

Clarence served as secretary of the Burr Oak-Mabel Telephone Co. for 27 years. He loved to play the violin. When he was first married he played for dances and house parties. He was still playing the violin when he was living in the retirement home in Decorah. Clarence and Mildred were long time members of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Locust. After a series of strokes, Clarence retired from farming and he and Mildred moved to an apartment in Decorah where they lived until failing health forced them to move to the Aase Haugen Home. Mildred died 27 Mar 1982 and Clarence died 3 Dec 1984. They are buried at the Locust Cemetery, rural Decorah.

George Henry Knoke was born in Canoe Twp, the son of Clarence Victor Knoke and Mildred Melissa Feltis. Clarence was born 21 Apr 1894 and Mildred was born 29 Oct 1896 in Burr Oak Twp, Winneshiek Co. Clarence and Mildred were married 2 Jan 1918 in the Lutheran Parsonage at Decorah. George had a brother Victor who died in infancy and has a sister, Mae Caroline (Knoke) Christopherson who lives in Jesup, IA.

George married Lila Coralynn Ehrie who was born in Waukon, IA, the daughter of Jergen J. Ehrie and Marvel (Jubelina) Vick. Jergen was born 6 Oct 1892 and Marvel was born 27 Sep 1898, both in Glenwood Twp. Lila is an only child.

George and Lila were married 14 Jan 1946 at the First Lutheran Church in Decorah. They have 3 children: Janice Elaine, Ronald Dean and Terry Glenn, all born in Decorah.

Janice Elaine attended rural schools in Canoe Twp and graduated from North Winneshiek High School in 1966. She attended cosmetology school in Mason City, IA. Janice married Marvin “Butch” Bergmann 3 Jul 1971 at Phelps Park in Decorah. Butch is an interior decorator. They have no children.

Ronald Dean married Judy Lerdahl 22 Sep 1973. They had 3 children: Korianne Marie, Jennifer Linn and Wade Owen. Ronald and Judy were divorced and Ronald married Sharon Parent 24 Aug 1985. Sharon has two children by a previous marriage: Sarah Parent and Joel Parent.

Terry Glenn married Kristine Mary Stoen 21 Aug 1976. Kristine was born in Decorah. Their children are: Sarah Renee; Rachel Ann; and Victoria Leigh.

George and Lila are members of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Decorah. They lived in Chicago about 7 months when first married, then moved back to the Decorah area and purchased a farm 9 miles north of Decorah in Canoe Twp. They had lived in the same house all their married life except the 7 months in Chicago. Before her marriage, Lila worked for the government in Bond Division for several years. George served in the army during World War II in the 24th Div., 34th Inf. Bn. for 38 months. He trained at Oahu, Hawaii 10 months - Japanese school and military intelligence training. He was in on the invasion of New Guinea, Biak and Leyte, Luzon, Mindora and Mindanao, the Philippine Islands.

Both George and Lila graduated from Decorah High School. In addition to farming, George worked for Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance Company part time for 27 years as an adjuster for crop damage from hail, livestock damage and storm damage to buildings.

Knoke, Heinrich F. and Justine (Ronenberg)

Heinrich F. Knoke was born in Hanover, Germany 19 Nov 1834. Heinrich and his brother August came to Mitchell, Ontario, Canada as young men. On 8 Sep 1855 Heinrich married Justine Ronenberg at Logan, Ontario. Justine was born in 1837. Heinrich and Justine had 10 children, all born at Logan, Ontario: August, Wilhemina (m. Lossing); Julica C. (m. Miller); Christina (m. Hilleman); Caroline E.L. (m. Thompson); Mary S. (m. Woellstein); Louisa C. (m. Broghammer); Amelia C. (never married); Henry Fredrick; and Christian E.A.

In Apr 1873 the family moved to Winneshiek Co, IA and purchased a 280 acre farm in Canoe Twp. In 1890, Heinrich and Justine moved to Decorah, IA (fifth ward) where Heinrich was living at the time of his death 13 Mar 1913, age 79. Justine died 7 Apr 1893 at age 56. They are both buried at Phelps Cemetery, Decorah. At the time
