tubs of butter were shipped to Chicago and Philadelphia. Norman operated the creamery until 1956.

Norman was an avid fisherman and hunted pheasants and squirrels. His dog "Speedy” was his companion and excellent in treeing squirrels. Norman enjoyed sports. However, a severe knee fracture during the football season at Luther curtailed his participation but he attended the games.

Norman married Sylvia Jarland 28 Nov 1940. Sylvia was born 7 May 1918 at Epping, ND to Lewis and Lisa (Grindeland) Jarland. Lewis was the son of Tosten and Olena (Langland) Jarland. Lisa was the daughter of David Enevold and Maret (Knoff) Grindeland. Lewis and Lisa had 6 boys and 4 girls. Sylvia graduated from Epping High School and in Sep 1937 enrolled at Luther College. She earned her certificate in elementary education. Sylvia taught rural schools for 10 years and then went back to Luther to earn her B.A. in education. She taught fifth grade in Decorah public schools for 24 years.

Norman died 7 Jul 1962 following 9 years of illness with Multiple Sclerosis. He was buried at Big Canoe Cemetery 20 Jul 1962.

Albright, Blake L. and Florence (Pufahl)

Blake L. Albright, son of Charles H. Albright and Clementine (McMullen) Albright, was born 12 Aug 1905 in Bloomfield Twp., Winneshiek Co. He had 2 brothers; an older brother, Ralph who died at age 16, and a younger brother, Walter who also died at the age of 16.

Blake attended rural school and high school in Castalia, after which he graduated from Postville High School in the Class of 1924. He then taught rural school for a few years.

On 6 Jun 1928 Blake married Florence Pufahl of Rossville, Allamakee Co., IA. She was the daughter of Emil H. Pufahl and Carrie (Biggs) Pufahl. Blake and Florence lived in Castalia and were in business for 27 years with Blake serving as an oil jobber/distributor and owner of a service station.

Blake died of a heart attack 28 Sep 1955. Florence continued as owner of the service station business for many years. She is now retired and living in Castalia. Florence is a member of the Methodist Church in Castalia.
