=======================================================================================

The founder of John Morrell & Co., was George Morrell, born in the village of Masham, Yorkshire, England, in 1778. His son succeeding him in management.

Life for the Morrell family of England, parents, six sons and a daughter, was one of hardship. But in 1827 a fortunate event occurred. An opportunity of paying debts and investing in a business. Starting small, just a market of goods, then trading wares of meats.
