Cameron, Margaret Ellen House -

Margaret Ellen Cameron was born January 3, 1897 in Taylor County, Iowa, to Samuel and Mary Margaret (Ryan) House. Ellen entered

into rest June 11, 1993 in Creston, Iowa. She was 96 years, 5 months and 8 days.

On January 7, 1915, Ellen became the bride of George Raymond Cameron in Lenox, Iowa. To bless this union 4 children were born. George

passed away in January of 1940.

Ellen was a native resident of Taylor county, she spent many years working at the Lenox Whiteway Hotel and was a devoted housewife. Her loves includes her family, friends, and the church. She was a lifelong member of St. Patrick's Church, a highlight in Ellen's life was her marriage to George in the new Church. The Cameron marriage was the first held in the newly constructed church.

Ellen is preceded in death by her husband George; son, Cecil R.; daughter, Leila Marie; son, Lloyd Eugene; 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

Surviving are: daughter, Lucille Miller, daughter-in-law, Theola Cameron. Grandchildren: John R. "Gale" Miller, Larry D. "Sandra"

Miller, Violet K Campbell, Tracy "Cindy" Cameron, Bob "Marie" Cameron, Marty "Shawn" Cameron, and Kelly "Kyle" Freshour. Eleven greatgrandchildren, and ten great great grandchildren.

Mass-of Christian burial was held Monday, June 14, 1993, at 10:00.am. at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Lenox. Officiating was Rev. John Bertogli.

Interment was at East Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.

Crowell, Leta Lorene Boyer -

Funeral services for Leta L. Crowell, age 78, were held Saturday, Juty 10, at the Christian Church in Lenox with Rev. Dena Woldruff

officiating.  Music was provided by Jean Nevius, Karen Shawler and Elaine Ewart. Casket bearers were George Reynolds, Short Rogers, George Wurster, Bill Campbell, Kenneth John and Marvin Routh.

Interment was in West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox.  Coen-Beaty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Leta Lorene Boyer Crowell, daughter of Chester A. and Edith Preston Boyer, was born May 5, 1915, at Sharpsburg. She passed away

July 7, 1993.

The family moved to a farm southwest of Lenox, and here Leta began country school in Grove Township. She graduated from Lenox High

and later attended the State Teacher's College in Maryville, Mo. Leta furthered here education with courses from the University of Iowa and began teaching in rural schools.

Leta married Lea J. Crowell on April 23, 1941, in Maryville, Mo. Lea and Leta had two children, Linda Jean and Danny Lee. The family

farmed in the Lenox community until 1960 when they moved to Lenox.

Leta was a member of the Christian Church in Lenox and was very active in church activities. She was the church pianist for many years.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda Jean Terry Heyne of Timberlake, N.C.; son Danny Lee "Faye Jean" Crowell of Clearfield; grandson

Mary Allen Heyne of the U.S. Navy in Norfolk, Va.; and brother R.D. "Selena" Boyer of Lenox.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband in October 1974.

Dillion, Lola Juanita Reed Ross -

Lola Juanita Reed Dillon was born August 11, 1919 at Lenox, Iowa to William Orville and Erma Belding Reed. She died Thursday, August 5,

1993, in Clearfield, Iowa at the age of 73; just six days before her 74th birthday.

Lola graduated from Lenox High School. She was married to Floyd Ross. Their children are Juanita, Sharon, Betty and a special friend,

Joyce Hayes, whom they raised through her school years. Lola was also married to Vernon Dillon.

Lola lived in Clearfield since 1966, where she was a member of the Clearfield Christian Church, the American Auxiliary and its

Kitchen Bank.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Orville and Lewis Reed, 2 sisters, Nina Baker and Lometa Brammer, a brother-in-

law Eldon Jones and a son who died in miscarriage.

Lola is survived by her children, Juanita and her husband John Brown of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Sharon and her husband Charles Brown of Clearfield; and Betty and her husband Merle Still of Redding, Iowa; and their special friend Joyce and her husband Carroll Hayes of

Atlantic, Iowa. Also five grandchildren: Todd Brown of Bedford and Harold Brown of Clearfield, Terri Lynn Brown-Newton of Diagonal, Tawyna and Adam Still of Redding and 2 step-grandchildren, Lisa Saxton of Skidmore, Mo., and Teresa Still and her children,

Mackenzie and Levi Briner of Mount Ayr. She had a special grandmother/grandchild relationship with the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren of Joyce and Carroll Hayes. Many, many kids also called her mom and grandma.

Other survivors include her brothers Don and his wife Juanita of Alburnett, Iowa, Bill and his wife Janet Reed of Lenox, Charles and his wife Hazel Reed of Des Moines, and her sister Eva Jones of Lenox. Two brothers-in-law: Joe Brammer of Sharpsburg and Earle Baker of Clearfield and two sister-in-laws, Betty Reed of Lenox and Irene Reed of Lenox; plus many nieces, nephews and many friends.

Services for Lola were held at the First Christian Church, Clearfield, Iowa, with Reverent Eydie Stephens officiating.

Interment in West Fairview Cemetery, Lenox, Iowa.

Funeral services for James B Furstenau, 67, were held Tuesday, July 29, 1993 at St Patrick's Church in Fremont, Neb.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery, Fremont, with Military Graveside Services by VFW Post 864 and America Legion Post 20 Military

Honors Team.

James Furstenau, son of Otis and Mary (Gaughen) Furstenau, was born July 6, 1926 in rural North Bend, Neb.  He passed away Saturday, July 17, 1993 away at the A, J. Merrick Manor in Fremont, Neb.

His family moved to Fremont when he was 5 years of age. He graduated from Fremont High School in 1944. He entered the U.S. Army and served in the South Pacific during WW II.  After his discharge in November of 1948, he worked for the former River Valley Cream Company at Fremont. He then became an inspector for the U.S.D.A. working at Babendure and Sons until they closed. He transferred

to Lenox, Iowa in 1978 and worked for USDA at Sheridan Egg Co. until retiring in 1987. He then returned to Fremont in 1987.

James married Delores "Dee" Mohr May 25, 1948 in Fremont, Neb. James and Delores had seven children.

James was a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, VFW Post 854, American Legion Post 20, Fraternal Order of Eagles & is Past President of Aerie 200 of Fremont and the Fremont volunteer Fire Department.

Survivors include his wife Dee; two sons, Michael Furstenau of Boone, and James and wife Lavonne of Fremont; five daughters and

sons-in-law, Patricia & Michael Matteo, Boone; Cathy and Kerry Farber, Tekamah, Neb.; Mary and Clark Boschult, Grand Island, Neb; Jean and Chris Barrens, Lenox; and Sue and Dave Boltinghouse, Fremont; sister-in-law, Betty Furstenau of Fremont; 11 grandchildren and two greatgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Mary Furstenau, and by two brothers Richard and Wilmer Furstenau.

Henderson, Myrle Fulton -

Myrle Fulton Henderson, son of Jesse F. Henderson and Ida Wernstrom Henderson was born November 7, 1903 at Gravity, Iowa and passed away August 26, 1993 at Mercy Hospital in Corning. Iowa, at the age of 89 years 9 months and 19 days. He lived his entire

life in Taylor County.

On March 18, 1943 he was united in marriage to Margaret Shaffer at Maryville, Mo. This union was blessed with two children, Eva Hingeley and John Henderson.

At an early age Myrle joined the Methodist Church at Sharpsburg, Iowa and transferred his membership to the United Methodist Church at Lenox, Iowa in 1947.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 250 at Lenox and a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge. He did farm work, trucking and worked for Tote's Manufacturing until his retirement in 1968.

Myrle was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He found much pleasure in being with his family, neighbors and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, his daughter Eva of Plattsmouth, Ne. his son, John F. and wife Merry of Ft Collins, Colo., 6 grandchildren, Timothy Hingeley and wife Kim of Bellevue Ne., Christine and husband Ronald Hicks of Killeen, Tex., Quentin Hingeley

and wife Shelly of Plattsmouth, John Henderson II of Creston, Iowa, Heather and husband James Rice of Shenandoah and Joshua Henderson of Ft Collins, Colo.; 5 great grandchildren; one sister Irene and husband Ralph Gillispie of Yates Center, Ks.; one brother

Raymond and wife Helen of Brea, CA.; one sister-in-law Maxine Henderson of Lenox; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Glenn and Carrol and two great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sunday, August 29, 1993, 2:00 o'clock p.m. at the Lenox United Methodist Church officiated by Rev. Les Calhoun.

Herman, Jerry Dean -

Jerry Dean Herman was born near Glidden, Iowa and died at his home at Taylor Ridge Estates in Lenox at the age of 58 years, 3 months and 27 days. He grew up in the Glidden area and attended Glidden Schools.

Jerry was married to Carolyn Walter at the Salem Church of the Brethren near Lenox on March 22, 1961. They lived in Lenox and Jerry

was employed by Sheridan Egg Co. until retiring in June of 1991.

Jerry is survived by his wife Carolyn of Lenox; one aunt Pam Herman of Glidden; sister-in-law Barbara and husband John Lamb; 2

nephews Kevin and Tammie Wilson and Scott Wilson.

Jerry was a member of the Salem Church of The Brethren. He served in the Armed Forces during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his mother Gail Herman.

James, Keith Raymond -

Keith Raymond James, son of George F. and Nora Belle Estel, was born in Ringgold County on October 10, 1915, and died April 23,

1993 in Des Moines, Iowa. He was raised by his grandparents John and Clara Estel after the death of his mother in the 1919 flu epidemic.

Keith attended the Lenox Schools and graduated in 1933. After graduation, he worked for his uncle at the Case dealership. He enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served with the 97th Anti-Aircraft Artillery near Pearl Harbor. He was discharged in 1945. He opened

his own garage in Lenox, but sold out after 2 years and went to Bedford to work at the Case Dealership. He returned to Lenox in 1952 and went to work for Barker Implement, retiring in 1980. After retirement, he was maintenance engineer for Low Rent Housing Authority.

Keith was married to Norma Kemery in 1951 and she died in 1971. He married Marilyn Miller Willey in May of 1974.

Keith is survived by his wife Marilyn of Lenox; stepdaughter Marlene of Bedford; 2 grandchildren; Katherine Sue Zeibig of Red Oak and Stephen K. Zeibig who made his home with Keith and Marilyn; 2 brothers; Monson (Bill) Shaver of St. George, Utah and Lloyd

M. James of Gaylord, MI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Norma; 2 infant children, and sister Ruth Shaver.

Funeral services were Tuesday, April 27, 1993, (10:30 a.m.) at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Lenox officiated by Rev. Les Calhoun.

He was laid to rest at the West Fairview Cemetery in Lenox with Graveside Military Services by V.F.W. Post #1797.

Kerns, Maurrine Nickle -

Maurrine Nickle Kerns was born October 1, 1907 at Clearfield, Iowa, one of four children of Elmer Reed and Coma Brown Nickle.  She passed away May 26, 1993 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa.

She graduated from Clearfield High School in 1926.

On September 15, 1926, she married Harold Kerns.  To This union their children, Donald and Norma Lee were born.  The Kerns lived

in several different place including Clearfield, Lenox and Creston in Iowa, and Fort Morgan, Colorado.  Maurrine had worked in a flower shop and for Varner's Funeral Homes as well as on the farm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a great grandson Timmy Richey, two sisters, Violet Muir and Audrey Nickle Boyer, and her brother, J D Nickle.

Maurrine is survived by her son Donald and wife Vivian of Thornburg, Iowa, and a daughter, Norma Lee Black of Lenox, Iowa, seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four step great grandchildren: Steve and Becky Kerns and their son Karl of Clearfield, Linda Suzanne and her husband Kevin Fink of Rochester, Minnesota, Kevin and his wife Debbie Kerns and their children, Evan and Jennifer of Huxley, Iowa, Denny and his wife Linda Kerns and their children Amy, Shane and Rachel of Clearfield,

Kirby, Oma Brown -

Oma (Brown) Kirby was born on November 16, 1898, daughter of Odis M. and Mary (Richy) Brown near Sharpsburg, Iowa, and passed

away Friday, May 21, 1993 at the Clearview Home in Clearfield, Iowa at the age of 94 years, 6 months, and 5 days.

Oma spent most of her life in Taylor and Ringgold Counties. As a young woman she worked in the post office and the printing office in

Sharpsburg, Iowa.

On March 6, 1918, she was married to Lawrence C. Kirby and they enjoyed 75 years together. To this union were born three children: a

daughter Oma LaVon, a son Virgil Edwin, and a daughter Venita Shirlene. She was a loving mother and housewife and also worked many years as a retail sale clerk and manager.

Oma was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Lenox, Iowa. She has been a member of several clubs, including the American Legion Auxiliary.

Oma was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Roy, Charlie and Clyde Brown and sister Daisy Bagstrom; her daughter LaVon

Lange and one grandson Joseph Kirby.

Survivors include her husband Lawrence Kirby; son Virgil and his wife Dorothy Kirby of Bedford, Iowa; her daughter Venita and husband

Ernest Schmidt of Hot Springs, Arkansas; a sister Grace Selders of Lenox, Iowa; and a brother Marvin (Skeeter) Brown and his wife Bernice of Branson, Missouri. Nine grandchildren: Larry and Richard Lange, Deanna Frame; Cleota Tapken, Jolene Smith; Fran Dougherty, Connie Cooper, Karen Schaefer, and Duane Sobotka. Also 23 greatgrandchildren, 8 great-greatgrandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, whom she loved dearly.

Oma was a kind, loving Christian person who will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Funeral service was held at the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox on May 24 with Rev. Marcia Smith Wood presiding. Burial was at North Fairview Cemetery, Lenox, Iowa.

Manroe, Robert Allen -

Robert Allen Manroe, the son of Roy (Jie) and Lula Huddleston Manroe was born in Lenox, Iowa, January 4, 1925. He passed away at the

Veteran's Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, July 22, 1993 at the age of 68 years, 6 months and 18 days after a long illness.

He was raised in the Lenox community and was baptized in the Lenox Christian Church at an early age.

He attended Lenox schools until the age of 17 when he enlisted in the United States Army. He served his country from 1943 to January 1946. During this time he served in the European Theater and was awarded the Purple Heart after being wounded in action in Northern France. He was hospitalized in England several months and then served in the military police until discharged home.

Bob married Bonnie Brown on Valentine's Day, February 14, 1946 in Troy, Kansas. One daughter, Linda, blessed this union.

He lived and worked in the Lenox area his entire life, except for one year when the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Bob worked at the Ford Motor Company.

Bob and Bonnie owned and operated the C&M Tavern from 1958 to 1965.

The joy of his life was their grandchildren and great grandchildren and their dog, Tusha Lou.

Bob enjoyed hunting and fishing. In later years he enjoyed feeding the birds and squirrels and watching them eat.

He is survived by his wife Bonnie, daughter Linda (husband Rick) Nelson of Lenox, sister Betty (husband Don) Webb of Creston, and

brother Charlie Manroe of Florida. Also his beloved grandchildren Jill (husband Thane) Glynn, their children Bailly Noel and Payton Cole of Creston, and Ben (wife Staci) Nelson and their son Tate Benjamin of Walnut, Kansas.

Also surviving is his step mother Lola Knox of Gravity, step brothers Earl Moffitt of Thermal, Ca., and Bill Moffitt of Denver, Co., step sisters Darlene Manroe and Deloris Ambrose, both of Gravity, brothers-in-law Max Badgett (wife Jerry) and Carl Clinton of Lenox and sister-in-law Mable Brown of Oregon, several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, sister Lola Manroe and brother Weldon (Jie) Manroe.

O'Connell, Grace Marie -

Funeral services for Grace Marie O'Connell, 83, of Lenox were held Thursday, July 1, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in

Corning with Father John Bertogli officiating.

Casket bearers were Jim Vogel, Johnny Ecklin, Kevin Benlers, Richard Weaver, Kenneth Brown and Arnold Leonard. Lector was Kathy

Ecklin, and servers were Allen Konecne and Sarah Konecne. Music was provided by Kathleen Cook, organist, and Melody Miller, vocalist.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery in Corning. Coen- Beaty Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Grace, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Ann (Cain) O'Connell, was born March 7, 1910, in Holt Township, Taylor County, Iowa. She died June 28, 1993, at the Lenox Care Center in Lenox at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 21 days.

She attended country school in Taylor County. After her mother died in 1942, Grace lived with and took care of her father until his death in 1965. She was never married.

She did babysitting prior to starting employment at Rosary Hospital in Corning, where she worked in the housekeeping department from

1967 until 1980. Grace lived in Corning from 1964 to 1990. She was a lifelong member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Corning

and was a member of the Altar Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Homer O'Connell; and her only niece, Bernadine Matya.

Survivors are sister-in-law Nellie O'Connell of Corning; a nephew, Tom Matya of Corning; four great-nieces, a great-nephew, several cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Alvin Leroy Reimer, 34, of Afton were held Wednesday, June 9, at the United Methodist Church in Afton, with Rev.

Survivors include his wife, Heidi; daughters Sara Michelle, age 9, and Valerie Kim, age 2; and mother, Joyce Gourley of Creston.

Alvin, a farmer, lived in Lenox for two years until moving to the family farm near Afton.

Gene Roe, 65, of LeMars, died Wednesday August 18, 1993 at his home.

Roe was born February 21, 1928 in Conway, the son of Jesse and Mary (Cipra) Roe. He graduated from Lenox High School in 1946 and

served in the United States Air Force from 1950-1954. He married Virginia 'Gini' Ann Cox September 4, 1955 in Lenox. He graduated from Northwest Missouri State University in 1958. He was a fieldman for Iowa Farm Bureau in Pottawattamie County. In 1964, he joined Farm Services/Gromark, Inc. and managed in Princeton, Wis., and Grinnell. From 1973 to 1987 he was manager of Northwestern Farm Service Co., in Le Mars and after his retirement he worked with his friend, Norman Nielsen at Fuel and More Co in Le Mars.

Survivors include his wife; three daughter, Terri (Mrs. David Roe-Ruden, Le Mars, Merri (Mrs Tom) Lee McCrea; Austin, Texas and Lori (Mrs Denny) Roe-Koopman of Le Mars, grandchildren: Heidi Gene Henderson, Kent and Tory McCrea and Alexandria Grace Koopman; four sisters; Grace Alexander, Le Mars, Marjorie Paton, Reinbeck, Bonnie (Mrs. Herb) Ridgley, Miami, Fla., and Doris (Mrs Reldon)  Key of Lenox and a Brother, Dean and wife Lucy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, John, and brothers-in-law Karmon Alexander and Alan Paton.

Services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Lynn Potter officiating. Burial was in Memorial Cemetery, Le Mars.

Siverly, Mitchell Wade -

Mitch Siverly, a 1991 graduate of Lenox High school, was the victim of a one-vehicle fatal accident early Saturday morning south of Lenox. According to the accident report of the Taylor County Sheriff's Department, Siverly, age 20, was southbound on Route N64 about 8½ miles south of Lenox when he lost control of the 1992 Chevrolet pickup truck he was driving. The vehicle apparently

veered to the west shoulder, then skidded sideways across the pavement and off the road, according to the accident report.

The vehicle apparently rolled and ejected the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's report listed the time of the accident as 2:30 a.m.

There were no passengers in the pickup, and Siverly was reportedly not wearing a seat belt. Mitch was reportedly en route to his Bedford Route 4 home at the time of the accident. The pickup truck received damages estimated at $10,000.

The accident was reported by Ramona Fry of Creston.

The Sheriffs Department indicated that investigations into the accident are still continuing. Blood tests were taken and sent to the state lab, but the results are not expected for several weeks. The Iowa Highway Patrol was also involved in the investigation.

Mitch was an all-conference basketball player for Lenox High during his high school years. He also received honorable mention all-state honors and is among the top basketball scorers in Lenox High history.

Mitch had completed studies at Southwestern Community College in Creston and was to graduate this May. He was planning on continuing

his education at Northwest Missouri State University.

Survivors include his father, Lawrence, a farmer; his mother, Norma, a resources teacher with the Lenox School District; and sisters Nicole Holly and Leah.

Mitchell Wade Siverly was born March 1, 1973, in Mt. Ayr. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at United Methodist Church in

Lenox, with Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Interment was in North Fairview Cemetery.

Siverly's death placed a tragic finishing touch to the Lenox High junior-senior prom celebration.

His parents had assisted with the after-prom party at the Legion Building in Lenox. Mitch and his father had finished working in the farm fields about 7:30 p.m. Friday evening, according to reports

Later that night, Mitch visited his residence in Creston to move some personal items back to the Bedford Route 4 residence. His whereabouts from that time to the time of the accident had not been reported at press time.

News of the fatal accident came as students and parents were cleaning the high school gymnasium, the site of the prom dance.

On Monday, students at Lenox High were "real quiet," said Principal Paul Oliphant. There was no school at Lenox High and Junior High on

Tuesday morning to allow students to attend the funeral. Mitch's three sisters are students in the Lenox Community School District.

Nicole is a junior, Holly is a seventh grader and Leah is in fourth grade.

Oliphant said he hoped that students would realize that, for them, life goes on. He also hopes that Mitch Siverly's death won't be the only memory juniors and seniors hold about Prom Night 1993. "We hope they remember they had a lot of fun, too," he said.

Memorials have been establish in Mitch's name, and the fund will likely be targeted toward the Lenox Community School District, according to friends of the family.

Swank, Doyle -

Mrs. Alfred Adolphson and Mrs. Floyd Lee have received word of the death of their brother Doyle Swank of Eureka, California. He passed away Thursday night after suffering a stroke and heart attack. A memorial service will be held Tuesday and burial at

Eureka. He visited in Lenox many times.
