Beck, Evelyn Deloris Douglas -

Funeral services for E. Deloris Beck, age 84 of .Lenox, who died Saturday at Greater

Community Hospital in Creston, were held Tuesday, August 3, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at the

Lenox Presbyterian Church with Pastor Tim Maxa officiating. Burial was held in the

West Fairview Cemetery.

Memorials can be given in her name. Services were conducted by the Ritchie Funeral

Home of Lenox. [Died July 31, 1999]

Evelyn Deloris Beck was born December 25, 1914 in Bookwalter, Nebraska, the

daughter of D. Gilbert Douglas and Mildred (Hunt) Douglas. In 1931 Deloris moved to

the Lenox area with her parents and graduated from Lenox High School in 1932.

On February 7, 1937 she was united in marriage to Harold Beck on her parents' farm

in Cromwell. After their marriage they moved to a farm  south of Lenox where she

resided until her death.

She and Harold enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair together and spending time

with her grandchildren and great-grandchild. In her spare time she enjoyed painting

ceramics and china, quilting and crocheting. Deloris and her sister Bernice, spent

many hours updating the history for the East and West Fairview Cemetery Plot

Books in the early 1970's.

She was a long-time member of the United Presbyterian Church in Lenox, various

church circles and organizations and a member of the Stitch, hatter and Gossip Club.

She is survived by her husband Harold of Lenox; a daughter, Elaine Grantham and

husband Dwight of Atlantic; a brother, Don Douglas and wife Betty of Prescott; a

sister, Bernice Brown and husband Delman of Lenox; a brother-in-law, Donald

Tully of Lenox; a sister-in-law, Beulah Douglas of Lenox; two grandchildren, Becky

Mortenson and husband Daniel of Madison, South Dakota and Brian Grantham of

Kansas City, Missouri; and a great-grandson, Grant Mortenson.

Preceding her in death are her parents, D. Gilbert and Mildred; two brothers,

Glen and Earl Douglas; two sisters, Mineva Tully and Beulah Douglas (at infancy);

and a sister-in-law, Jean Douglas.

Brown, Merle Eldon -

Merle Eldon Brown, son of Lee F. and Edna Perdue Brown, was born southeast of

Diagonal. When he was one year old the family moved to a farm two miles west

and one-fourth mile south of Diagonal. He graduated from Diagonal High School

in 1932 and from Sweeney Aviation School in Kansas City, MO.

Merle married Miriam Wood of Clearfield on July 7, 1940 in Mount Ayr, Iowa.

He worked at Curtiss Wright Corporation in St. Louis, MO for five years

before they moved to Iowa. He came to Union County in 1946 where he farmed

until retiring in 1980.

Merle passed away on June 22, 1999 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston,

IA at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 19 days.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Olen Brown, a sister Gladys

Graham and an infant grandson, Drew Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Miriam of Kent; a son Wynnewood Brown and his wife,

Elaine also of Kent; four grandchildren Rhonda Oliphant and her husband

J.R. of Elk Horn, IA; Dawn Plowman and her husband Cale of Dubuque, IA;

Vincent Brown of Kent, IA and Evelyn Brown of Cedar Falls, IA; two great

grandchildren Kristen and Logan Oliphant, as well as a host of relatives and friends.

Services were held at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield, IA on Friday,

June 25, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Alan Rusk officiating.

Music was provided by Patty Parrish, Mary Webb and Margaret Bickers.

Casket bearers were Bob Graham, Dick Graham, Paul Van Gelder, Joe Klech, Jr.,

Marion Hansell, and Phillip Hudson. Honorary pallbearers were Wayne Taylor,

Don Johnston, Jim Kearney, Allen Lillie, Joe Johnston, and Dick Van Gelder.

Interment was in the Clearfield Cemetery.

Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Campbell, Marvin E -

Marvin E. Campbell of Lorimor, formerly of Santa Fe, Texas passed away July 24,

1999 at Alegent Health Mercy Hospital in Corning. He was 66.

Mr. Campbell, the son of Joseph M. and Bertha L. (Keller) Campbell was born

October 3, 1932 in Shannon City, Iowa. He retired from the U.S. Navy, was

employed as an electrician in Texas, before moving to Lorimor five years ago.

He was baptized in the United Methodist Church and was a member of

American Legion Post No. 96 of Lorimor.

Marvin graduated from the Benton High School in 1952. He then attended

college in Tarkio and Simpson College in Indianola.

In 1956 Marvin was united in marriage to Nancy Jane Drake of Mount Ayr, IA.

To this union a son, Jeffrey was born on October 22, 1957.

Marvin went on to complete a full 20 year career in the U.S. Navy, which

included one tour in Korea and two tours in Viet Nam. Marvin was highly

recognized and cited for his duty and conduct and was retired with honors.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Paul Campbell.

He is survived by a son, Jeffrey (wife Susan) Campbell of Vacaville, CA,

five brothers, Dale Campbell of Clearfield; Melvin (wife Alice) Campbell of

Glendale, AZ; Clyde (wife Nancy) Campbell of San Pablo, CA; Ronald (wife

Carolyn) Campbell of Bellaire, TX and Robert Campbell of Denver, CO;

three sisters, Edith Warren of Lorimor, IA; Donna (husband Glen) Adams

of Santa Fe, New Mexico; and Zelda (husband Dave) Winslow of Lenox; and

two grandchildren.

Services were held July 28, 1999 at the United Methodist Church in

Clearfield with the Rev. Alan Rusk officiating. Music was provided by Mrs.

John Parrish.

Casketbearers were Paul Winslow, Jerry Campbell, Jack Campbell, Jim

Campbell, Roger Breach, Joey Campbell. Honorary pallbearers were Doug

Wellingham, Lyle Jordan, Dan Grosebeck, Jim Decker, Charlie Warren,

Bob Campbell and Philip Adams.

Interment was in the Clearfield Cemetery in Clearfield, IA. Military

graveside rites were conducted by American Legion Woodside Post

No. 97 of Clearfield.

The Wilson-Watson and Armstrong Funeral Home in Clearfield was

in charge of arrangements.

Cooper, Violet Cleone -

On Sunday, June 27, Violet Cleone Cooper of Prescott died near Main Street

in Prescott when her car struck a utility pole.

The 85-year-old driver apparently was traveling too fast to make a turn.

The 1984 Ford hit the pole and overturned. The accident occurred at 10:30 a.m.

Funeral services for Violet Cleone Cooper were pending.

Donovan, Della Purdy -

Delia Donovan of Creston passed away July 5, 1999 at Creston Haven Care

Center at the age of 89.

Mrs. Donovan, the daughter of Arthur Leslie and Elma Egga (Claisier) Purdy

was born June 27, 1910 in Clearfield. She was united in marriage to William James

Donovan in Greenfield on February 9, 1927. She was a cook at St. Malachy

School and worked at Gits Manufacturing. She was a member of Holy Spirit parish,

Altar Society and Rosary Society and Railroad Auxiliary.

She is survived by a daughter, Marlene (husband Ronald) Vorrath of Des Moines;

son Gary Donovan of Tempe, AZ; brother Arthur (wife Mary Belle) Purdy of

Orient; two sisterr, Betty (husband Ed) Trenkle of Creston and Susan (husband

Ted) Tedrow of Nebraska City, Nebraska; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1990, sons Albert, James and

Lloyd, daughter June Robinett and four sisters.

Dudney, Shawn Floyd -

On Friday, June 25, Shawn Floyd Dudney of Kent was the victim of a tractor-

train accident just north of Highway 34 on Iris Avenue.

The John Deere tractor driven by 22-year-old Dudney was apparently struck

by a Burlington Northern-Santa Fe train at 9:15 a.m. on Friday.

Hofmeister, George Charles -

George Charles Hofmeister (better known as Jiggs), son of William and Anna

(McLaury) Hofmeister was born October 16, 1919 in Clearfield,  IA and passed

away August 10, 1999.

He grew to adulthood in Clearfield and graduated from the Clearfield High

School with the class of 1939. He enjoyed sports, especially baseball.

He entered the United States Army August 5, 1941 and served in the 243rd

Field Artillery Battalion.

On October 9, 1942 George and Beatrice Nickle of Clearfield, Iowa were

united in marriage in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

He spent two years of service in the European area during the World War II

conflict. He was honorably discharged from the Army November 3, 1945, and

joined his wife and young daughter, Mary Anne in Clearfield, IA and was

employed by the Sam Parrish Produce and later moved to the Roy E. Nickle farm.

In March of 1960 the family moved to Denver, Colorado to make their home

and later purchased a home in Westminster, CO. He began his career with the

United States Denver Mint in Denver, CO in 1964. He worked in the counting

and review, also helped assay gold bullion at various locations. He was only one

of a few who were registered with the government to weigh in troy ounces.

He became a supervisor  in accounting and review. He retired at the age of

65 years after 20 years of service.

George was promoted to glory August 10, 1999.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his children, George Thomas,

John Charles and Nancy Beth.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Hofmeister, their daughters-Mary Anne

Rozales, Georgia Franklin, Shirley Kay Eaves, and son, Gerald Lee Hofmeister,

two sisters, Ethel Dunaway and Wilma Smith; also 13 grandchildren, 3 great

grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.

George was a dedicated Christian and a faithful member of the First Southern

Baptist Church of Westminster, CO.

Funeral services were held August 13 in the First Southern Baptist Church in

Westminster, CO and interment in the Fort Logan Military Cemetery

in Denver, CO.

Hogue, Ida Belle Journey -

Ida Belle (Journey) was born on April 6, 1903 in Page County, Iowa to Peter

William Journey and Jane (Weaver). She married Hubbard D. Hogue on June

14, 1919 in Hepburn, Iowa. To this union were born eight children.

She spent the first of her married years caring for her family and helping

her husband on the farm. She especially enjoyed being a midwife and helping

deliver many babies.

She worked for Sheridan Egg Company of Lenox and also for the Lenox Care

Center until her retirement.

One of Ida's greatest loves was caring for other people, some much younger

than herself. She helped in raising her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She would put her families needs and wants before her own needs. She cared

for her invalid husband for eight years before his death in December of 1965.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Hubbard Hogue, an infant daughter

Lula Belle Hogue, daughter Ona Wold, two sons, Ira Joseph and Claude Wesley

Hogue, two sons-in-law Travis Boltinghouse and Jim Wolf, one grandson Tony

Brown, and three infant grandchildren, six brothers Emery, Henry, Billie, Frank,

Orville and Ray Journey, and three sisters Ruth Catheard, Lula Stevens, Esther,

and her parents.

She is survived by her daughters Ruth Boltinghouse of Tucson, AZ and Dorothy

Brown of Washington, her sons Charles Hogue (wife DeLoma) of Loveland, CO,

and Lewis Hogue (wife Mary) of Prescott, IA, two brothers John Journey of

Newburg, OR and Tom Journey of Mesa, AZ, one sister Mary of Kearney, NE. She

is also survived by 27 grandchildren and several great grandchildren and great-

great grand children as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ida is a member of the First Christian Church of Creston, IA.

Funeral services were held at the Coen-Beaty Funeral Home in Lenox on August

17 with Pastor Lyle Kuehl officiating. Burial was in the West Fairview Cemetery

in Lenox. Memorials may be directed to the family in her name.

Leonard, Lyle Dean -

Clearfield area residents hoped for the best in the case of Lyle Leonard, but on

Monday the worst of news came with the discovery of Lyle's body in a ditch adjoining

Highway 2 between Mt. Ayr and Kellerton. Lyle, age 46, had been missing since July

27 when he was last seen in Kellerton. Law enforcement officials are still attempting

to discover a cause of death. An autopsy was scheduled at Broadlawn Hospital in Des Moines.

Lyle farmed east of Clearfield and was owner operator of Broadway Bar & Grill in Clearfield.

A Department of Transportation worker was mowing a ditch on the north side of Highway

2 when he discovered the body at 11:45 a.m., according to the Ringgold County Sheriffs

Department.

The body was found four miles east of Mt. Ayr, according to the report.

Wilson-Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements with funeral

services pending.

Involved in the investigation are sheriffs departments from Ringgold and Taylor counties

and the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation.

The disappearance of Lyle Leonard has drawn much attention in recent weeks. On August

25, the Omaha World-Herald published a lengthy front page article about the case.

Leonard, Lyle Dean -

Lyle Dean Leonard was born on August 15, 1953 at Greater Community Hospital in Creston,

Iowa to Donovan and Rose Mary Higday Leonard of Clearfield. Lyle was welcomed home by

two sisters, Julaine and Jennie Jeanne and one brother, Linden and was later joined by three

more brothers. Larry, Ricky and Ronny.

Lyle grew up and attended school in Clearfield where he graduated with the Class of 1971.

After graduation Lyle was engaged in farming, an occupation which he continued and enjoyed t

hroughout his lifetime. Other work included employment with Heimke Construction, Wick

Buildings and Jimmy Dean Packing Co.

Lyle met Vicky Fox of Mount Ayr and on November 18, 1977 they were married in Clearfield.

To this union was born three sons, Lance of Clearfield; Chris, who attends Iowa State

University,  and Daniel of the home.

Lyle and Vicky purchased the Broadway Bar and Grill in Clearfield in 1995. That same

year they purchased his parents' farm, which was a third generation family farm.

Lyle hardly knew a stranger and was known by friends for miles around. He was a

person of remarkable generosity and loved family gatherings and good times with

friends.

Lyle was a member of the United Methodist Church where he was baptized and also

a member of the Clearfield Business Club.

Lyle was preceded in death by his father, Donovan in 1989.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife. Vicky; his sons, Lance. Christopher and

Daniel; his mother. Rose Mary; his sisters, Julaine Compton and husband, Dan,  

Jennie Jeanne Stephens and husband, Dick; his brothers, Linden and wife, Cindy;

Larry and wife, Heather; Ricky and wife, Bess; and Ronny and wife Jari Jo; a sister-

in-law, Martha Petersohn and husband. Randy; a brother-in-law, Rick Fox and wife,

Jody; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.

Services were held at the United Methodist Church in Clearfield on Friday,

September 3, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Alan Rusk officiating.

Music was provided by Maralene Longfellow and Kathy Nelson.

Casketbearers were Jerry Ewalt, Bob Bailey, Al Brammer, Gerald England, Darwin

Eggert, and Gary Swank. Honorary pallbearers were Scott Mitchell, Wendell

Sollars, Dwight Matheny, Jim Parmenter, Maurice Hanson, Wayne Crittenden.

Jeff Wood, Greg Powell. Cecil Smith, Max Higday, Alan Larscn, Bob McMath.

Owens, Walter (Walkie) Edwin -

Services for Walter Edwin (Walkie) Owens were held June 29, 1999 at the

United Methodist Church in Clearfield with the Rev. Alan Rusk and Rev.

Phillip Henderson officiating.

Music was provided by Roberta Lockhart, Jennifer Tibben-Lembke and

Judy Owens.

Casketbearers were Lisa Starr, Jennifer Tibben-Lembke, Kristen Frost-

Tibben, Richard Schultz, John Starr, Ron Tibben-Lembke, Paul Owens

and Richard Mackey.

Honorary Pallbearers were Paul Brown, Bob McMath, Robert Thompson,

Marvin Boyer, Vernon Straight, JB Routh, Dale Juergens, Glen Larsen,

and Maurice Hanson.

Walter (Walkie) Edwin Owens was born in eastern Iowa on a farm close to

Oakland Mills, Iowa on October 12, 1913 to Ernest Miller and Ethel Mullin

Owens. Within a few years Miller and three other brothers moved to

western Iowa where Walter grew up on a farm 2 1/2 miles east of Clearfield.

When Walter was a boy on the farm, a neighbor, Shorty Williamson gave

Walter the nick name Walkie. It stuck and he has been known as Walkie

his whole life.

Walkie rode a horse those 2 1/2 miles to school and later would drive a

horse and buggy with his older sister and brother; Gladys Owens Levi

and Lester Owens. Walkie played violin and cornet in the orchestra and

band and also sang in the chorus and male quartets. He was also in sports

activities including football and basketball.

Walkie graduated from Clearfield High School in 1933.

During the depression Walkie worked as a farm laborer and traveled to

northern Iowa to harvest crops and to shuck corn. He then worked at the

Frank Bye service station.

On December 24, 1937 Walter was united in marriage with Joan Wiley in

Clarinda, Iowa. Into this union were born four children: Deanne Joyce,

Ernest Wiley (who died after one day), Judith Ann and Walter Wiley.

In 1939 Walkie became a partner with Faye (Rib) Van Winkle in Van Winkle

and Owens Hogbuyers. Through the years his partners changed along with

the name of the business - 1st Central Livestock with Spud VanWinkle and

lastly Creston Transportation with Kenny Calvin. Walkie was in business for

50 years total, retiring at the age of 75 years.

Walkie was a charter member of the Clearfield Lion's Club established in

1953. He was also a member of the Clearfield Business Club, American Legion

Woodside Post #97, a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army

and a member of the Clearfield United Methodist Church.

His hobbies were playing pitch and dancing to big band music.

Walkie Owens left this life to enter the next on June 25, 1999 at Clearview

Home at the age of 85. Walkie was preceded in death by his parents; an infant

son, Ernest Wiley Owens; a brother, Lester Owens; and a sister, Gladys Levi.

Survivors are his wife Joan; his son Will of Chesterfield, Virginia; two

daughters Deanne (husband Leon) Tibben of Andover, Minnesota

and Judy Owens of Boulder, Colorado; four grandchildren Kristen Frost-Tibben,

Jennifer Tibben-Lembke, Lisa Starr and Paul Owens; great granddaughter

Grace Johanna Tibben-Lembke and many friends.

He was laid to rest at the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield with military rites by

Woodside Post #97 American Legion.

Wilson-Watson & Armstrong Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Plowman, Hazel V Moore -

Hazel V. Plowman of Creston passed away August 21, 1999 at the Iowa Methodist

Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 81.

Mrs. Plowman, daughter of Roy and Ella (Schaffcr) Moore, was born July 6, 1918 in

Adams County. She was united in marriage to Orville "Rusty" Plowman, May 31, 1941

in Maryville, MO.

Many from the area will remember Hazel as she worked at Armour Creamery, J.C.

Penney and Easter's Family Center for 25 years, retiring in 1996.

She is survived by a son, Terry (wife Rhonda) Plowman south of Creston; a sister-in-law

Dorothy Plowman of Creston; special friend, LeRoy Kerrigan of Creston; two grandsons

and two great-granddaughters.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband in 1989; brother and

sister-in-law, Melvin and Dorothy Moore; and brother-in-law, Lewis Plowman.

Services were held August 24 at the First Presbyterian Church in Creston.

Burial was in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Cromwell.

Poortinga, Alexandria (Cindy Pirtle) -

Alexandria Poortinga was born February 10, 1957 in Osceola, Iowa, the daughter

of John P. Pirtle, Sr. and Margaret B. Poortinga.

Alexandria grew up in the Clearfield area and graduated from high school in 1975.

She obtained a two year nursing degree at Iowa Western College, graduating in

1978.

She loved animals, especially her horses and many dogs and became certified to

train drug dogs. She loved the outdoors and most of all, her family.

Most of all she loved her kids, and was known to be very protective of them. She

was a member of the Clearfield United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her mother, Margaret Pirtle of Clearfield; two daughters, Dani

Irish Fahey and Andi Erin Hargin, both of Bedford; a sister. Johanna Simmerman

and husband, Michael of Santa Fe, New Mexico, their children Casey and Mara

Simmerman, Tim Simmerman and wife Heather, Kelly Durie and husband Steve and

son Garret and Darby Summers and husband Jesse; two brothers Garrett Pirtle

and wife Donna of Clarinda, their children Clint Pirtle and Heidi Ellison, Lindsey

Pirtle, Dawn Freshour and Kisha Freshour, Corey Pirtle and Jamie Poland; John Pirtle

and wife Janis of Clearfield and their children, Erika and Erin; an aunt, Shirley

Poortinga Collins; three uncles, Bud Poortinga and wife Peggy, Ted Poortinga and

George Pirtle.

Preceding her in death were her father John and her grandparents.

Services were held Sunday, July 25, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist

Church in Clearfield, IA with the Rev. Al Rusk officiating.

Music was provided by Carol Cason, Kathy Nelson, Terry Dougherty, and Dennis White.

Pallbearers were George Haidsiak, Allen Brown, Carroll Baker, Ray Dean Larsen,

Dwayne Cason and John Lyddon.

Burial was in the Clearfield Cemetery at Clearfield, IA. [Died July 22, 1999]

Schmidt, Earnest Paul  -

Ernest Paul Schmidt, son of Andrew and Irene (Schwartz) Schmidt was born October

24, 1923 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He graduated from High School in West Allis, WI

in 1941.

In World War II Ernie enlisted in the U.S. Navy Air, serving in the South Pacific and

Japan from 1941 through 1945. He was wounded in duty and returned to Milwaukee

where he joined his father in retail and repair shoe business, Schmidt's Shoe Store in

West Allis, WI. He furthered his education by attending Orthopedic College in Chicago,

learning to make prescription shoes for Veterans Administration Hospital, Woods, WI.

Ernie was united in marriage to Frankie LeVan in 1946. To this union was born three

daughters, Janet Beth, Martha Ann and Laurie Jean.

He was raised Catholic and later attended the Community Methodist Church in Elm Grove,

WI. He obtained his real estate license and joined Cooper Communities in Horse Shoe Bend,

Ark., later joining Fairfield Communities, Inc. in Fairfield Bay, Ark. where he continued to

sell real estate.

On October 24, 1978 he married Venita Shirlene (Kirby) Sobotka at Indian Rock Cave,

Fairfield Bay, AR. In 1985 Venita and Ernie went into the restaurant business in

Edgemont and later Hot Springs until 1996.

Ernie was a member of several civic organizations, as well as the Disabled American

Veterans Association and Hot Springs VFW Post 2278. They enjoyed their retirement

in Hot Springs.

After a battle with cancer in the McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock,

Ernie passed away at Towbin Health Care/VA Medical Center, North Little Rock, on

Father's Day, Sunday, June 20, 1999.

Ernie was preceded in death by his mother and father.

One of Ernie's gifts was to interact well with people. His ability to become a Golden

Gloves boxing champion, race car driver and great fisherman showed his strong

Services were held at the Christian Church in Clearfield on Thursday, June 24,

1999 with the Rev. Eydie Stephens officiating. Music was provided by Maralene

Longfellow and Judy Cunning. Casket bearers were James Greenwald, Robert

Greenwald, Mark Greenwald, Brian Rutkowski, Eric Lindemann, and Jonathan

Corbin.

Military graveside rites were provided by V.F.W. Post #1797 of Creston.

Interment was in the Diagonal Cemetery at Diagonal.

Street, Florence Irene Bailey -

Florence Irene Street passed away Wednesday afternoon after a courageous

battle against cancer. [Died July 14, 1999]

She was born in Clearfield, Iowa on August 19, 1914 to Harve and Glenna. (Griffin)

Bailey. She received her education in Clearfield and graduated from Clearfield

High School.

Florence did some waitressing and clerking work, but mostly devoted her life to

being a homemaker for her husband and family. She enjoyed bowling and golf.

She married James B. Street in Las Vegas, Nev. on July 11, 1938. They celebrated

their 61st wedding anniversary last Sunday.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; daughters and sons-in-law, Pat and Hoot,

Gibson, Nancy and Dan Sullivan; daughters, Betty Jim McLeod and Mary Jo Turner;

sister Harriett Bush; sisters-in-law, Thelma Street and Lucille Bailey; grandchildren:

Jamie Seymour, Julie and Keith Carlson, Brook and Shannon Seymour, Brent and

Athena Seymour, Colleen and Burke Lipsett, John and Vonnie Gibson, Kim and Ken

Wooley, Karie and Dean Wegleitner, Luke and Jenny Sullivan; 13 great grandchildren,

numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary and

Fred Harshaw, Oris and Bill Ruby; brothers: George Bailey and Linus Bailey; parents-

in-law,

John and Elsie Street; brothers-in-law, Howard Bush and Henry Street; sister-in-law,

Lola Bailey, sons-in-law, Charlie Turner and Tom Tri.

Wagoner, Mark Aaron -

Mark Aaron Wagoner was born August 31, 1969, at Akron, Ohio, to Rev. Jerome

and Donna Hoopes Wagoner. Mark died Friday, August 6, 1999, southwest of Clarinda,

Iowa, as the result of a tractor accident.

Mark had attended St. Paul Lutheran School, Stevens Points, Wisconsin, public school

in Rochester, Minn., and had graduated 8th grade at Immanuel Lutheran School, rural

Clarinda. He graduated from Clarinda High School in 1988 and had attended IWCC,

Iowa State University.

He pursued an agriculture degree from Northwest Missouri State University.

He was active in farming with his father. Mark had worked at J.Bruner's in Clarinda,

Pella Windows and was currently employed with NSK-Clarinda. He was a member of

Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Clarinda.

Mark is survived by his parents of Clarinda; sisters Elizabeth Wagoner of Dallas,

Texas, Rebecca Wagoner, Seward, Nebraska, and Rachel Wagoner, Clarinda; grandmother,

Mary Hoopes, Clarinda; his fiance Andrea Barnes and her mother, Arlene Barnes

Steddom, both of Clarinda; uncles, aunts, and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Floyd and Mildred Wagoner and Donald

E. Hoopes; and maternal aunt, Debra Lowry.

Funeral services were Tuesday, August 10, at St. John Lutheran church in Clarinda

with burial at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Clarinda.

A memorial fund is being established to assist with marriage enrichment and family life

for young adults.

Eickemeyer Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
