He was a member of the Gravity Christian Church and Gravity Fire Department.

Lester was a very good farmer. He loved the land, conserved it, and never wanted to leave the farm. This wish was granted for he was born in Taylor County and lived his life out here. He enjoyed raising good cattle and hogs, and had a great love for horses. In his younger years he owned and trained some riding horses.

He loved the children who rode on his school bus for 18 years and was pleased when they greeted him as they grew up.

He was an honest man who never made a purchase of any kind without knowing he definitely could pay for it.

As he retired from farming, his carpenter skills led to a hobby in woodcraft. He has crafted many beautiful and useful articles, and enjoyed displaying at craft shows until the past year when infirmities began setting in.

Dear to his heart was the Gravity Fire Department. He and two other Gravity citizens started the organization.
