Aaron
H. [inson] Inman, 83, one-time
resident of Taylor county, died July 2 in a hospital at Brainerd after a short
illness.
Funeral
services were held at Westboro, Mo., Thursday afternoon, July 5 conducted by
Rev. Herbert Thomas. Burial in the Hopkins cemetery.
Mr.
Inman is survived by his wife,
four sons and two daughters. They are Harold of Northboro, Arthur [Samuel] of Dickey, N. Dak, Ralph [Leroy] of Council
Bluffs, Merlin [Jackson] of Sioux City, Mrs. Glen (Mabel) Hayes of Conway, Nettie [Gladis] Jarman of Garretson, S. Dak. There are also 26
grandchildren, nine great grandchildren.

Delanie Kesinger died at a Santa
Cruz hospital on November 8, 1941, aged 75 years.
Delanie
Mellinger was born August 14,
1866, in [Morrow County] Ohio and moved as a child with her parents to Gravity,
Iowa. She early accepted Christ and united with the Advent Christian Church at
Villisca, Iowa. For many years she taught school, later marrying Edward [Johnson]
Kesinger in August [9th]
1917. They lived in Illinois during most of their married life and Sister
Kesinger was unable to attend an
Adventist Church. But three years ago they came to California and for the past
two years she enjoyed the fellowship of the Santa Cruz church.

Kesinger is survived by her
husband, three brothers, T. [homas] F.[ernando] Mellinger of Portland, Oregon; J. [ohn] E. [rnest]
Mellinger of Vancouver,
Washington; and Rev. Willard L. [eon] Mellinger of Watsonville, Calif., and one sister, Miss
Francea [Frances] O.[live] Mellinger of Gravity, Iowa, secretary of the Missouri Valley A. C. Conference.
The funeral was held at
White's Mortuary with a message on "The Promise of a New World." Then
we laid her to rest in the Odd Fellows Cemetery until the Prince of Life shall
call her forth to a blessed immortality.

Mrs
Nova Klakken, daughter of Mr
and Mrs A. C. Berry [Beery] of this place, died at her home at Outlook,
Montana Sunday afternoon. The body is being brought here for burial. No
definite arrangements for the funeral will be made until the body arrives here,
but it will likely be held tomorrow.

Nova
Pearl Beery Klakken was born May
26, 1905, near Villisca, Iowa, and died in the Plentywood, Montana hospital,
November 30, 1941, at the age of 36 years, 6 months, 4 days.
She
grew to womanhood at Gravity, Iowa; graduating from the Gravity high school in
1926. Later she attended the State Teachers College at Cedar Falls. In 1929 she
came to teach at the Brightsman school near Dooley, Montana.
She
was united in marriage to [Andrew] Marvin Klakken March 13, 1930.
To this union were born six children; three boys and three girls.
She
joined the Christian church at Gravity at the age of 19 and upon coming to
Montana united with the Lutheran church at Dooley. She was an active worker for
the church, a good mother, and a friend to all.
She
leaves to mourn her passing, the husband and children; her parents, Mr and
Mrs A. C. Beery of Gravity, Iowa,
two brothers, Newell of Vida,
Montana and Harold of Bedford,
Iowa; an aged grandmother, Mrs R. D. Beery of Gravity; and many other relatives and friends.
The
funeral service was held from the Christian church here at two o'clock Friday
afternoon conducted by Rev. Ben W. Sinderson, and burial was in the Gravity
cemetery.
The
pallbearers were classmates of the deceased: Eldon Valentine, Harold and
Merrill Leighton, Columbus Glasmann, Willard and Donald Marsh.

Mrs.
[Andrew] Marvin Klakken, a former
resident of Gravity, died in the hospital at Plentywood, Montana, Sunday,
November 30. The body was returned to Gravity, where funeral services were held
Friday afternoon at the Church of Christ, conducted by Rev. Ben W. Sinderson.
Burial was in the Gravity cemetery.
Nova
Pearl Beery was born May 26, 1905
near Villisca, Iowa, being aged 36 years, 6 months and 4 days at the time of
her death. She grew to womanhood in the Gravity community, graduating from the
Gravity high school in 1926. Later she attended the State Teachers College at
Iowa Falls and in 1929 went to Dooley, Montana, where she taught at the
Brightsman School.
On
March 13, 1930 she was married to [Andrew] Marvin Klakken. To
them were born six children, three girls and three boys.
She
united with the Christian church at Gravity at the age of 19 and after moving
to Montana, she united with the Lutheran church at Dooley. She was an active
worker in the church, a good mother and a friend to all.
She
is survived by her husband and children; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C.

Dessie G. Masker
Dessie
G. [race] Masker, daughter of Emmer
R. [osella Crane] and Henry M.[arion] Cupp, was born in Clark County, Illinois on November 18, 1886, and passed
away at the Richland hospital on July 12, 1960 at the age of 73 years, 6 months
and 24 days. While not having been able to enjoy good health for several years,
her passing came as a shock as her last illness was of only three days
duration.
About
a month ago, Mrs. Masker left
her home in Corning to make her last visit with relatives and friends in
Wisconsin.
At
the age of 16 years, she started her teaching career at the Cook school near
West Lima, Wisc. After several years in the rural schools there, she continued
her education and received her masters degree. She then went on to do her work
in the public schools of the state of Iowa as a teacher and administrator. In
addition to this work, she was an ordained minister in the Church of Christ and
was active in Christian work for 50 years.
In
the year 1909 she was married to Ned C. [leland] Cook. To this union was born one son, Ned Cleland, now a safety management officer with the U. S.
Army Corp of Engineers, Far East District, at present stationed at Seoul,
Korea.
Her
late husband, William [Lester] Masker, passed away at Corning, Iowa in July of 1959.
She
leaves to mourn her passing a son, Ned C. [leland] Cook and six grandchildren in Hawaii. One brother, Charles [Edward] of Wisc. [?], three sisters, Jessie (Mrs. Earl Hall of Bloom [?] City), Mabel [Claire] (Mrs. Tom
Brown of Woodstock), Alice
[Marie] (Mrs. Walter Early) of
Nebraska.
Four
sisters, Mary [Emma], Effie, Julia and Myrtle [Sarah] and one brother, John [Basil], preceded her in death.
She
also leaves to mourn a number of nieces and nephews, more distant relatives and
a host of friends.
Services
were held at Bloom City church [Richland County, Wisconsin], the church of her
childhood, with Rev. Burton Kugler and Rev. D. O. Dolman [?] officiating.
Interment was in Bloom City cemetery.

Mrs. William Masker
The
sad and untimely death of Mrs. William [Lester] Masker last Thursday, took from Corning a devoted mother
and wife who will be missed sadly in the home, and leaves sorrowing her aged
parents, brothers, a sister, and a large group of friends.
Mrs.
Masker has been ailing for some
time but her condition did not become critical until three weeks ago. She was
taken to a hospital in Omaha and one week before her death, she underwent a
major operation, from which she seemed to be recovering nicely. However,
shortly before her death a blood clot formed which caused her sudden passing.

Jennie Webster, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. C. [hancy] H. [ezekiah] Webster, was born October 19, 1882, on a farm near New Market, and died
April 17, 1941, at 10 a. m., aged 58 years, 5 months and 26 days. She was
married to William L. Masker at Clarinda, May 10, 1920. The same year they moved to Adams County and this
has since been their home.
Mrs.
Masker is survived by her husband
and one daughter, Mary [Elizabeth],
who have given her tender care and devotion during the short illness which
preceded her death. She is also survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. [hancy]
H. [ezekiah] Webster of Corning,
two brothers, Charles [Henry] of Denver, Colorado and [James] Earl of Corning; one sister, Mrs. C. [harles] A.
[ugustus] Barnes [Ola May] of
Gravity, and many neighbors and friends, who sorrow with the stricken family.
Mrs.
Masker was a woman who was
devoted to her home and her life was filled with her ministrations to the loved
ones, and service to those about her. She was a member of the local Christian
church, and was ever loyal in her Christian duties, and firm in her faith.
Funeral
services were held from the Corning Christian church Sunday, April 20, at 2 o’clock,
conducted by the Rev. A. E. Nelson. Pallbearers were E. G. Janky [?], Homer
Richards, Lloyd Leonard, Ollie Burrill, Ross Cosman and Tracy Kepner. Burial
was in the Gravity cemetery.

had been in failing health for several months. He was cared for by his sister, Ora
Masker and other relatives.

William L. Masker
William
L. [ester], eldest child of Theodore
and Mary Walker Masker, was born
August 31, 1880, and passed away July 21, 1959 at the age of 78 years. Death
was due to a heart attack.
As
a young man, Bill worked as a
farmer and a carpenter and for a few years taught in the schools of the Carl
and Lincoln Center vicinities. From 1914 until his death he was engaged in the
blacksmithing trade at his shop in Corning.
In
1906 he was married to Nina Burrill,
to which union one daughter, Veda [Irene] (Mrs. J. [ohn] M. [ichael] Burns of Mancos, Colorado) was born. In 1920 he married [Mary] Jennie Webster, who preceded him in death in 1941. To this
marriage a daughter, Mary [Elizabeth] (Mrs. R. A. Conklin of Kasson, Minnesota) was born. In 1943 he was
married to Mrs. Dessie G. [race] Pilalas of Wapato, Washington, who survives him.
As
a young man he joined the Blue Grove Church in Taylor County, and later
transferred his membership to the Corning Church of Christ.
In
addition to his widow and two daughters he is survived by his two sons-in-law;
seven grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Milo Dugan of Gravity, Iowa; one brother, Jess, also of Gravity, and a host of friends and
relatives.
Services
were held Saturday, July 25, in the Corning First Presbyterian Church,
conducted by the Rev. W. N. Sinning. Music was furnished by a male quartette
composed of Gerald Thomas, Carl Zimmerman, Clary Thompson and Rev. Sinning,
with Mrs. David Cook as organist. Pallbearers were: Pete Downey, Harold
Jackson, Vaughn Tindall, Clinton Cooper, Artie Keels and Lloyd Leonard. Burial
was in the Gravity Cemetery.

Olive Frances Mellinger, 92, a
resident of Gravity for many years and of the Armstrong Rest Home in Bedford
the past several years, died Saturday, October 28 at St. Francis Hospital,
Maryville. There are no survivors.
Graveside
services, according to her request, were held at Washington cemetery, Gravity,
at 10 a.m., Monday, October 30 with Mrs. Bertha Peters of Villisca officiating.

T.
[homas] F. [ernando] Mellinger,
76, a former resident of Taylor County, died in Portland, Oregon, April 1. He
was a member of the staff of the daily newspaper there, The Oregonian, for many years and was widely known in newspaper
circles in the Northwest. He retired from business just recently. Last rites
and burial were there.
He
is survived by his wife, Helen.
Also by one sister, Miss O. [live] F. [rances] Mellinger of Gravity, a resident of the Armstrong Nursing
Home in Bedford the past several years.

funeral services of Wm. Mellinger,
who passed away at the home of his son at Ogden, Utah, Oct. 7, was held Tuesday
afternoon here. Services were conducted by Rev. Johnson, pastor of the
Christian church at this place. Only a short service was held at the cemetery.
A daughter, Miss [Olive] Frances Mellinger, accompanied the remains from Utah, arriving here Monday evening.
Another daughter, Mrs. Lena Kisinger [Kesinger], and husband, now of Guss, were present at the
funeral. Interment in Gravity cemetery beside his wife who had preceded him in
death.

GRAVITY ITEMS.
A
telegram was received here Saturday morning of the death of Wm. Mellinger of Ogden, Utah. He was formerly one of the oldest
citizens of this place, and for many years he and his family made this their
home, but for the past few years and since the death of his wife, he has been
making his home in the west with his children. Some time ago he suffered a
stroke of paralysis, which left him in very poor health. Word was received here
that he passed away the morning of Oct. 7. Miss Frankie Mellinger, a daughter, accompanied the remains here, and
they were laid to rest Tuesday in Gravity cemetery beside his wife, who had
preceded him in death. The services were in charge of Dr. Madden, undertaker,
and Rev. Johnson, pastor of the Christian church at this, place. Only a short
service was held at the cemetery by request.

William Mellinger passed away at the residence of his son, Rev. W. L. Mellinger, 506 Twenty-Third Street, at 6:30 a. m. today, after a lingering illness of diabetes. Mr. Mellinger was born in Columbina [Columbiana] County, Ohio, October 27 [?], 1840 and has lived for many years at Gravity, Iowa. For the past two years he has been a resident of Ogden, living with his son, Rev. W. L. Mellinger. The deceased is survived by the following children, Mrs. E. J. Kesinger, Guss, Iowa; Miss O. F. Mellinger, Gravity, Iowa; W. L. Mellinger, Ogden, Utah; J. E. Mellinger, Los Angeles, Cal., and T. F. Mellinger, Portland, Ore., and two grandchildren. The remains may be viewed at the Kirkendall Mortuary this evening and will be shipped Saturday morning to Gravity, Iowa, where burial will be made.
