Rites In Clearfield For Lester Levi, 68

Funeral services for Lester Levi, 68, of Clearfield, were held January 14 at the Clearfield Christian Church with Rev. Yoon and Rev. Taschetter [?} officiating. Mr. Levi died January 12 following a long illness.  Interment was at the Clearfield Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys, two daughters, Mrs. Norma Jean Huffman of Altoona, Ia., and Mrs. Joan Petersen of Albert Lea, Minn., nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, one brother, Albert Levi of Cedar Rapids, two sons-in-law, Elwood Huffman and Kenneth Petersen and many friends.

Final Rites For Ernest Flood, 76, Held Here Tues.

Funeral services for Ernest Flood, 76, of Trenton, Mo., were held Tuesday, Jan. 20, at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home here conducted by Rev. Darrel Draper. Mr. Flood died January 16, 1970, while helping his brother, David Flood, with chores on their jointly owned farm west of Galt, Mo.  Interment was at Fairview cemetery, Bedford.

He is also survived by his wife, the former Vera Hagan of Bedford.

Final Rites Here January 20 For Ernest Flood, 76

Funeral services for Ernest Flood, 76, of Trenton, Mo., held January 20 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford, were conducted by Rev. Darrel Draper. Mr. Flood died at his farm west of Galt, Mo., January 16, 1970. Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.

Ernest J. Flood, the son of Oscar F. and Matildath [Matildah] Johnson Flood, was born in Sweden, October 9, 1893. He came to America at the age of 17 and for many years lived on a farm near Villisca, Iowa then moved to his farm near Galt in 1940.

He was married to Vera Hagan of Bedford, October 3, 1946 at Hiawatha, Kans. Most of their married life was spent in and near Trenton, Mo.

He was a confirmed member of the Lutheran Church in Sweden and while living in Iowa. He was a learned Bible student. He transferred his membership to the Methodist Church and was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church at Trenton. He was an industrious farmer, always interested in community betterment and cherished his many friends.

His survivors include his wife, Vera, of the home and one brother, David, who lives near Galt.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Axtell in 1917 and Carl in 1954.

In Bedford for the services were Mrs. Grant Maddy of Long Beach, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hagan and sons, Harold and David, of Midlothian, Ill.; and Bob McCoy of Los Angeles, Calif.

Mrs. Maude Van Camp Dies In California

Mrs. Maude [Jared] Van Camp, former resident of Taylor County, died September 8, 1971, in Monterey Park, Calif.  Interment was at Inglewood, Calif., September 10.

She is survived by two sons, Maurice and Harold, both of California.

Aged Resident Dies

Mrs. Sarah Zink, 70, died at her home in Sheridan, Wednesday, Nov. 13, after an illness of several weeks.  The funeral services were held at the Christian church Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L. B. Day.  Burial was in the Brethren cemetery.

Herman Ernest, 88, Last Rites Held February 16

Funeral services for Herman B. [erton] Ernest, 88, of Clarinda, held February 16 at Shum-Novinger Funeral Home in Bedford, were conducted by Carl Cummings.   Mr. Ernest died in Clarinda, Iowa, February 12, 1974.  Interment was at Fairview Cemetery, Bedford.

Herman B. Ernest, son of August and Hannah Dietch Ernest, was born January 20, 1886, in Jackson Township, Taylor County, Iowa.

He grew to maturity in the community where he was born, where he attended the Forest Grove School and church.

In August of 1912 he was united in marriage to Harriette Golding at Saint Joseph, Missouri, and they farmed in Taylor County until moving to Denver, Colorado, in 1924.

He was employed by the City of Denver, as a Park Highway Patrolman until his retirement in 1955, when they moved to Clarinda, Iowa, where he has since continued to reside.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Harriette, who died February 23, 1970, and three sisters, Rose R. [ebecca] Larison, Mary Alice Brown, and Maude Spurgeon, and by three brothers, Frank, Fred and Will Ernest.

Left to cherish his memory are one sister, Mrs. Loula Reece of Mt. Ayr, Ia.; one brother, Glen E. [lmer] Ernest of Bedford; John N. Golding, Denver, Colo., who shared the love and inspiration of their home from the time he was a small lad; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

He was a member of the Christian Church, Clarinda.

Herman was a kind and considerate son, brother, husband and neighbor, and he will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Etha Freeman, 91, Last Rites Held In Blockton

Funeral services for Mrs. Walter (Etha) Freeman, 91, of Blockton, were held at Andrews Funeral Home in Grant City, Mo., February 1, with Rev. G. W. Swan, D. D., officiating.  Mrs. Freeman died in the St. Francis Hospital in Maryville, Mo., January 30, 1974.  Interment was in the Blockton Cemetery.

Etha Harney Freeman was born on Election Day, November 7, 1882.

On December 22, 1904, she was united in marriage to Walter Freeman.  To this union one son, Harland, was born.

The family lived on a farm south of Blockton all their lives.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Blockton and was a great believer in prayer.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Walter.

Surviving are one son, Harland, and his wife, Doris; three grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mrs. John Conley Dies In Calif.

Mrs. Wayland Maloy (Jean Thompson) has received word of the April 15 death of her sister, Mrs. John Conley (Martha Thompson) in Los Angeles, Calif.

The daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. R. [alph] W. Thompson [Elizabeth Sanborn], she was born in Bedford January 23, 1910.  She was reared in Bedford and was graduated from Bedford High School in 1928.

Besides her husband and her sister, her survivors include a nephew, John Maloy and family of Rochester, New York, and cousins, including Carrolle Thompson of Bedford and Charles Thompson of Clarinda.

Burial will be at a later date at the Bedford Cemetery.
