C. C. Carlton Dies At His Home Sunday

C. [ecil] C. [laire] Carlton, 66, died at his home in Bedford, Sunday night after a long illness.  The funeral services were held at the Wetmore Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Russell G. Nye, assisted by Rev. Gordon F. McLean.  Burial was in the Fairview Cemetery.

Mr. Carlton was a resident of Clearfield for many years before moving to Bedford.  He is survived by his wife and three children:  Mrs. Alan D. [e Forrest] Thompson [Pauline] of Bedford, Mrs. Don Cofer [Catherine] and Don Carlton, both of Denver, Colorado.  There are also four grandchildren.

Obituary -- C. C. Carlton

C. [ecil] C. [laire] Carlton, who was born in Ringgold County, on Dec. 13, 1880, was the son of native Irish parents, John M. and Sarah Carlton.

He had been a member of, and active in the Methodist Church from his youth, attending the churches located in the communities in which he resided.

In 1908 he married Miss Edith Buchanan, and enjoyed the company of his children---Pauline, Donald and Catherine.

His business activities were conducted in the realm of banking and of real estate, the latter in the interest of corporations and personal.

His passing away on November 9, 1947, at the age of 67, leaves besides his wife and family, one sister, Mrs. Leota Wilt; one brother, D. D. Carlton; one granddaughter and three grandsons.

A deep sense of confidence in business relationships developed because of his high sense of honesty and integrity, and the cordial associations enjoyed within the family circle were felt by many outside.

The funeral services were held at the Wetmore Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Russell G. Nye and Rev. Gordon F. McLean.  Burial was in the Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Hattie Bishop, 84, died at the home of Mrs. H. L. Hartzler, Tuesday, April 22.  The funeral services were held at the Wetmore Funeral Home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Gordon F. MacLean.  Burial was in the Fairview cemetery.

Mrs. Bishop is survived by two sons, Charles Bishop of Kansas City and Arthur Bishop of Creston and their families.

Obituary -- Mrs. Hattie Bishop

Funeral services for Mrs. Hattie Bishop, who died at the home of Mrs. H. L. Hartzler in Bedford, Tuesday, April 22, were held at the Wetmore Funeral Home Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Gordon F. MacLean.  Burial was in the Fairview cemetery.

Hattie Ellen Perkins, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chas. A. Perkins [Mary Augusta Davis], was born September 22, 1862, being aged 84 years and 7 months at the time of her death.  Her parents were pioneer settlers of Taylor County and faithful workers of the Presbyterian Church in Bedford, for many years.  Mr. and Mrs. Bishop were also members of the Bedford Presbyterian Church.

Her husband, Isaac Lewis Bishop, preceded her in death eleven years ago.

Surviving are one brother, Chalon F. Perkins of Bedford; two sons, Chas. A. Bishop of Kansas City and Arthur L. Bishop of Creston; three grandchildren, Dr. Chas. A. Bishop of Pittsburgh, Penn., Arthur L. Bishop, Jr., of Creston, and Betty Irene Bishop of Chicago; one great granddaughter, Barbara Susan Bishop, daughter of Dr. Chas. A. Bishop.

Harry Timberlake Dies At His Home

Harry Timberlake, 79, died at his home eight miles northwest of Bedford, Wednesday evening, following several weeks of illness.  The funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon.  Burial will be in the Graceland cemetery.

Surviving are two children, Verne Timberlake and family who reside at the home farm in Mason Twp; and Mrs. Grace Richey and family of Des Moines; one brother, Claude Timberlake of Bedford; and two sisters, Mrs. T. E. Anderson of Bedford and Mrs. Nellie Sparks of Gravity.

Mr. Timberlake was well and favorably known over the county, as he had been a prominent farmer and stock raiser in Mason township for years, and served a few years ago as county supervisor for two terms.

Chris Mosier, 73, Dies At Platteville

Chris Mosier, 73, a resident of the Platteville community, died at his home Wednesday, Jan. 15.  He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Trula Stein and her family, also of Platteville.  No funeral arrangements have been made on account of the weather and road conditions.

Obituary     E. P. Titus

Ellis Philip Titus was born at Oxford, Henry County, Ill., Oct. 3, 1864, and died at Clark, S. Dak., Monday, Sept. 2, 1940, at the age of 75 years, 10 months and 28 days.

The son of Francis and Lydia [Arnold] Titus, pioneer settlers of Taylor County, he came with his parents to Bedford in 1869.

On August 17, 1892, he was married to Etta Webb at Bedford and to this union four children were born, Ruth Collins of Hollywood, Calif., [Francis] Philip and Reid Titus of San Francisco, Calif., and Attorney Worth Titus of Clark, S. Dak., who died in 1926.

He is survived by his widow, his daughter, two sons, and his sister, Mrs. William Kemery [Luvira] of Bedford.  His sister, Julia Opdylke, of Billings, Okla., and his parents preceded him in death.

As a young man he engaged in business in Bedford and Clarinda, then farmed for several years on the homestead west of Bedford.  In 1910 he moved with his family to Clark, So. Dak., where he conducted a real estate and insurance business until his death.

Ellis Titus had a host of friends.  Honest and straightforward in his business and social contacts, he lived a life that has been a source of inspiration to his family, his relatives and his friends.

Funeral services were held at the home in Clark on Wednesday, Sept. 4, and brief memorial services were conducted at the home of his sister, Mrs. William [Luvira] Kemery at Bedford.  Friday, Sept. 6.  Rev. O. H. Hallgrimson conducted the services at Bedford and two lifelong friends of the family, Mrs. Hallie Whittington and Sam Harley, sang.  Burial was in the Bedford cemetery.
