Beall, Maude Melba - Graveside services for Maude Melba Beall were held at the Bedford City Cemetery Thursday, Jan 17, 1991 with Rev Carl Cummings officiating.

Maude Melba Beall, daughter of Charles B. and Cora Flick Beall, was born on April 27, 1896, in Bedford, Iowa, and died on January 12, 1991 at the Mission Nursing Care Facility in Santa Clara, Calif.

Maude Beall attended the Bedford Public Schools and after her graduation was legal secetary to her grandfather, James P. Flock, and to her uncle, Bruce J. Flick. With her mother, sister and brother-in-law, she moved to Denver, Colo in 1939 and eventually to California. Her mother died in San Jose and is buried in the Bedford Cemetery. Her sister, Beatrice Beall Johnson, and husband, Elmer Johnson, are both buried in Santa Clara, Calif. Among survivors are first cousins, Frances and Robert Flick of Des Moines.

Her father, Charles B. Beall, operated a grocery store in Bedford for many years.

After his death, Maude's mother was Bedford's librarian from the early 1920's until she moved to Denver in 1939.

Maude Beall was a granddaughter of James P. Flick, longtime Bedford attorney who represented southwest Iowa in the Congress of the United States during the 1890's. She was a first cousin of the late James A. Lucas, who practiced law in Bedford from the early 1920's until his death in 1975.
