The Perry Daily Chief (Perry, Iowa) Thursday, 17 Dec 1896, page 3

Killed by a Train.

Frank Postalka, living at Vining, was struck and instantly killed by a passing train at that place, early yesterday morning. The accident happened a short distance from the depot, when No. 62, in charge of conductor John Reardon and engineer J. K. Jackson, was pulling into the station. The deceased was trying to drive a cow across the track, and stepped right in front of the engine. The old gentleman who was over 70 years of age, was hard of hearing, and evidently did not hear the approaching train.
