barb: I'm here in the chat room now.
System Msg: Sharyl has joined chat on 15 May 2006 03:55 pm
barb: How are you today, Sharyl?
Sharyl: Hi Barb
Sharyl: Too faint a color
Sharyl: How's this?
barb: Maybe a little brighter
barb: Worse
Sharyl: Better?
barb: Better
barb: We might not have a very big crowd
Sharyl: Good. I need to pour a cup of coffee. Just got up for the meeting ....
barb: At least four people have told me they can't attend
barb: On the grey, your blue is hard to read. Can you make it a brighter blue?
System Msg: Mark Christian has joined chat on Mon May 15, 2006 6:58 pm
Mark Christian: Hello Sharyl and Barb.
barb: Good Evening, Mark.
barb: So good to have you on.
barb: I head a lot of good things about you and your family yesterday.
Sharyl: I'm back .... Hi Mark!
Mark Christian: Hi Sharyl.
barb: From Bob Parker who lives in Story city.
System Msg: Loren has joined chat on Mon May 15, 2006 7:01 pm
barb: Good evening, Loren.
Sharyl: Here's Loren ...
Loren: Hi Everyone
Sharyl: Is Greta coming?
Loren: Must apologise -- I am very under the weather tonight
barb: Probably not. This might be it.
barb: Loren, Why don't you lead off as this might be it for tonight.
Loren: Okay, sounds good
Loren: Where we are is I would like to propose a deadline to come up with the document
Loren: That is, bring a finished product into being
barb: Propose away - set a date
Loren: The positive for me personally is I have just finished my annual conference
Loren: That gives me time now to focus on this project -- before I was only here in spirit
Loren: Okay -- let's set July 15th to have done!
barb: Your spirit is pretty good, Loren
barb: July 15th is as good a time as any.
Loren: We can then debate and dialog what we have come up with
barb: Gives us a couple of months.
Loren: Work always takes the amount of time allotted to do it
Mark Christian: So true.
Sharyl: By finished product, you mean the presentation materials? Brochure, etc?
Loren: Actually since I have seen you last I have had my head in a different game and only now can get to this
Loren: No Sharyl, a brochure
barb: By your previous statement, I assume you mean a draft of the finished products.
barb: So we can then react to them.
Loren: Actually, it really should go fast now -- I have been writing this in my head for the past seveal years and simply need to put the ideas on paper
Loren: Yes, a draft -- that is correct
barb: Did you get some ideas from the blog
Sharyl: Sounds good to me
barb: I thought the stats were great.
Loren: Yes, I did, Barb. That was a good idea
barb: Some good testamonies, too.
Loren: Also I now have access to the IAGenWeb site again so I can FTP in directly -- and keep the financials up to date.
barb: I have a request about finances before we finish tonight.
Loren: You don't know how important these meetings are -- we need to get together just to maintain and turn up the heat on this end of the project
Loren: Go ahead, Barb
barb: Now?
Loren: Yes, what is your request?
barb: We're holding a face-to-face conference in August.
Loren: Yes, that's right
barb: We'll need to charge a small registration fee and pay some bills.
barb: Could we do this through the Friends Account?
Loren: Okay?
Loren: I certainly see no reason why not -- if it is okay with everyone else!
Mark Christian: It just needs to be approved by the board.
barb: If there is any profit, it would stay with the friends.
barb: So how do I go about getting approval of the board?
Loren: This would be an excellent opportunity to meet folks
barb: Do we need to have a chat meeting or can we do it via email?
Mark Christian: I assume we are talking about a modest amount. Keep in mind we still owe Loren money.
Loren: Bring this up at our next meeting and we'll vote on it
Loren: Mark, I'm more interested in getting the project running -- I'll get paid back some day -- I have no fear
barb: Yes, there would be NO money taken out of the Friends account other than what we put in.
barb: I'll make sure this gets on the agenda next month AND get the information our earlier.
Loren: Well, we shoiuld be prepared should be lose money that we need to be responsible if that happens.
barb: Loren, Do we need to discuss anything in particular tonight other than this deadline?
Mark Christian: Let's check the bylaws real quick. Give me a second. I think we have to post an agenda or some such.
Sharyl: Yes, I think we do have to post an agenda ...
Loren: Really, Barb, just a request to everyone to keep posting to the blog. I feel I need to put my ideas down on paper so you can all see what I have in mind
Loren: Grist for the mill! We can build from there
barb: That's no problem, I can do that each time.
Sharyl: I have one thing to throw out regarding the presentation materials
barb: Do you think that you can get something in writing by next month?
Loren: Go for it!
Loren: Yes, I think so -- especially if you stay on my case, Barb
Sharyl: The general membership body has not been overly responsive to emails about Friends, but I think it may be because they really don't understand what we are doing, where we are, etc.
Mark Christian: We just need at least two weeks advance notice and to place it on the agenda. So Barb, if you or Sharyl can annnounce next month's mtg with an agenda we've got it covered.
barb: I'll talk to about it on Wednesday morning
Mark Christian: Or Greta.
Loren: This will be one of those things once I start it will flow to complettion -- now that I have this state conference out of the way I have a window opening.

barb: I'll make sure we get an agenda done soon and put it up.
Sharyl: I'd like to see one or two chats scheduled for them to attend ... various times of the day and different days of the week. Generate increased interest from the project members.
barb: Next meeting will be June 19th for us to see what Loren has come up with. How about inviting members to the July meeting?
Sharyl: I have a hard time understanding the seeming lack of interest.
Loren: Let's shoot for June 19th to have the brochure draft ready
barb: I do to, Greta and I have sensed that this year.
Loren: Sharyl, the interest will come when we have a real corporate sponsor underwriting our effort -- we've got something very valuable in the IAGenWeb
Mark Christian: Many don't relate to this part of it.
barb: Do you want to invite the rest of the group in July?
barb: I mean in June?
Sharyl: Right now it seems like MOST of them don't relate! LOL
Loren: Barb, let's make June our deadline for a draft -- then if we feel we are ready lets go to July for unveiling it
barb: Right on.
Loren: Again, work expands to the amount of time allowed to get it done
Loren: June is good
barb: It appears as if this chat room is doing ok tonight.
Loren: Guys, I hate to say this -- I am really sick tonight -- I may have to bow out early --
Sharyl: Whatever the rest of you feel is right. I was thinking a member chat prior to the unveiling .... inviting them to a board meeting may generate too many questions from members to get any business done.
Mark Christian: Okay, Loren. Sorry you'r ill.
Loren: I mowed the lawn last Friday without a coat -- and am paying a price for it today
Loren: I can't afford to be sick
Sharyl: Mowed the lawn! My snow isn't completely gone yet!
Mark Christian: I think it is good to have the chat. That way people know they had the opportunity to contribute even if they don't want to,.
Loren: Ha! We had tiny snowflakes in Clear Lake that day -- in mid May -- kind of makes me feel at home back in Alaska!
barb: It feels like snow here this week, but luckily not.
barb: I'll do a draft agenda and send it out to those of us on line to make sure I am reading this correctly. Is that ok?
Loren: Is there anything else pressing that we need to disucss tonight?
Mark Christian: Sure, Barb.
Mark Christian: Go take care of yourself, Loren.
Sharyl: Sounds good to me Loren.
barb: Loren, if you need to change Wednesday, let me knowl.
barb: Let's just sign off and go watch the Apprentice at 9:00
Loren: Hate to do this to you all -- but I'm going to turn in -- I'm dragging bottom
Sharyl: Goodnight Loren .... take care of that cold.
Loren: Barb, we're still on for Wednesday -- I trust I'll feel better by then
barb: Ok, Loren.
Loren: I saw the doctor this morning -- he gave me some horse pills -- but I feel bed is where I need to be
Loren: CU all later
barb: Let's all split for tonight.
Loren: bye
Sharyl: OK -- see ya all later!
barb: Bye for now.
Sharyl: Is somebody going to save this meeting?
Mark Christian: I'll do it. Good night all.
Sharyl: GN Mark, GN Barb
