Front Row Seated: Gere or Garrie; Jan Hendrick with Albert or Bob in front of him; Susan standing behind Grace, who is seated; Frederick; Joukje or Josephine Veenstra DeJong, who is holding Josephine

The four siblings in the back at left - Alice (Aaltje) Herman (Harm) Henry (Hendrik) and Peter are from Jan Hendrik's first wife - Susanna Bouwers.  The young man with dark hair in the back in Willem de Jong.  He is Josephine van Engen's son by her first marriage.  All of the other children are their's together.

This photo is supposed to be of Jan's first 3 children with his first wife. So the woman in the picture is Susanna Bouwers van Engen with her 3 older children; Herman standing center back, Henry standing wearing the white cravat and Alice standing in front.  Susanna died in 1892.

The couple is pictured with Jan's older three children and three children of his second marriage.
