Cemetery 

  • Sheridan Township Cemetery in Section 22 north of Boyden. Early records start about 1889. Contact - Logan Vanden Brink City Clerk for records

  • St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Section 14 north of Boyden. First burial recorded 30, Nov 1879. Early records have been lost. Records at church. Church has a book.

Mortician 

  • O.A. Van Dyke of Sheldon was an early undertaker in the Boyden Area. 
    Vander Ploeg’s
    of Sheldon currently serves the area, along with funeral homes from Sioux Center, Hull and Orange City.

Churches 

  • Reformed Church was organized 16 Aug. 1888. There is a history of the 75th Anniversary (1888-1963) at church library and the Public Library

  • St. John’s Lutheran (3 miles north and ½ west) organized 1878 Church history book

  • United Presbyterian was organized 10 November 1883 and has a 75th anniversary booklet.

Newspapers 

  • Earliest Boyden paper was called the Boyden Citizen. The newspapers are located
    at the Sioux County Index-Reporter of Hull: (they are complete unless indicated
    otherwise.) 27 May 1898 (vol.6 No.1), 1899, 1904, 1905, 1908, (Most issues), 1911
    (all except first issue), 1914, 1915, 1917 incomplete, 1918, 1923, 1924, 1929 to the
    date of merger with the Sioux County Index in 1967. 

  • Current newspaper is the Sioux County Index Reporter which serves the Hull &
    Boyden area.

Histories 

  • Boyden Diamond Jubilee Booklet (1889 - 1964) 
  • There also is a centennial work.
