The 99th Shannon City alumni banquet will be held on Saturday, May 23, at the Eagles Club in Creston with registration and reminiscing starting at 3 p.m. The meal will be served at 5 p.m. This gives guests time to visit before eating according to Ann COMER SANSON, one of the alumni committee members.

The 50th year (1959) graduates being honored are: Bonnie ERGENBRIGHT BAKER and Karolyn ERGENBRIGHT FLETCHER (Creston), Alan COMER (Bedford), Josphine ROSS COOK (Maryville, MO), Marilyn REECE GRAY (Athens, GA), Keith KELLER (Des Moines), Nancy WERNER KELLY (Winterset) and Ann COMER SANSON (Clarinda). Two deceased classmates were Homer GOLDNER and Leah DELL McCAHON.

Graduates from the 1954 (55th), 1949 (60th) and 1944 (65th) classes will also be recognized.

Reservations need to be made by Tuesday, Nay 20, by calling Bonnie ERGENBRIGHT BAKER of Creston or Linda FOY JAMES of Creston.

One hundred two alumni and guests attended the 99th Shanon City alumni banquet held Saturday, May 23, 2009, at the Eagle's Club in Creston. Co-chairman were Bonnie ERGENBRIGHT BAKER (1959), Linda FOY JAMES (1960) of Creston and Ann COMER SANSON (1959) of Clarinda. Registration started at 3 p.m. with a 5 p.m. supper. Ron SANSON gave the invocation.

Ann SANSON served as the emcee for the evening and she shared information from correspondence received from alumni with the group and thanked everyone for making the evening a success. The program was having each alumni introduce themselves and their guest(s) and telling the gorup a little about themselves.

The 1959 class celebrating 50 years was this year's honor class. Those attending were: Bonnie ERGENBRIGHT BAKER and Karolyn ERGENBRIGHT FLETCHER (Creston), Josephine ROSS (Maryville, MO), Marilyn REECE GRAY (Athens, GA), Alan COMER (Bedford), Keith KELLER (Des Moines) and Ann COMER SANSON (Clarinda). Also joining the group was former classmate Robert HASKELL (Maryville, MO).

Seven other graduates attending were celebrating their 55th, 60th and 65 banquets. They were (1954) Lila KELLER GREENE (Creston), Ron JONES (Afton) and Patty DUNLAP KOONTZ (Martensdale); (1949) Donna RUCKMAN BERDINE and Bob CONARD (Creston), Alvion CLOUGH (Ellston) and Gwen HARDEN WAMBOLD (Winterset); and (1944) Loren GEHRKE (Clarksdale, MO).

BAKER, JAMES and SANSON will be in charge of the 100th annual Shannon City school alumni banquet next year. The date will be Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the Eagle's Club, starting with registration at 3 p.m. and supper being served at 5 p.m.

1948 - Velma SWINEHART FRANK (Winterset), Althea MEANS HOFFMAN (Shannon City) and Audrey COMER LEWELLEN (Omaha, NE);

1950 - Dick IDE (Shannon City) and Bill LITHICUM (Des Moines);
