88th Overholtzer Reunion

The 88th annual OVERHOLTZER reunion was held at the Tingley community building on August 7, 2011.

Host and hostess were David and Suzanne OVERHOLTZER of Council Bluffs. David SCOTT gave the blessing followed by David OVERHOLTZER leading the 56 relatives and guests in the Pledge of Allegiance.

The famous OVERHOLTZER potluck was spectacular, as always, and enjoyed by everyone. Following the potluck meal, McAllister OVERHOLTZER and Olivia OVERHOLTZER entertained the crowd with their musical talents. McAllister played two songs on the piano and Olivia sang a song from the musical, "Wicked.

David OVERHOLTZER called the meeting to order. Those present stood and introduced themselves and their family. New and old business was then discussed. David OVERHOLTZER reported that he has transferred Grace OVERHOLTZER MILLIGAN'S, "Christian OVERHOLTZER and his Father Jacob," to a CD. He has also placed the OVERHOLTZER reunion minutes from 1924 to 1963 on the same CD. He had those available for all who desired. David also reminded everyone about the website he has started. It can be found at www.overholtzer.org.

Jim LUTHER announced he had copies of the video he produced of the families present at the 86th OVERHOLTZER reunion. Jim was also giving these to anyone who wanted one. It was also announced that the National OVERHOLTSER Reunion will be on August 20, 2011 at Oklahoma City, OK and be held at the OVERHOLSER Mansion.

Letters were read from Rev. Jack and Marie KENDALL of Cedar Rapids and Richard and Joan OVERHOLTZER of San Jose, CA.

Births reported were Bohnam Augustus SCOTT born January 5, 2011; Mason Beckett MANN born October 18, 2010; Eli O’Neal RUMFELT born February 5, 2011; Veronica Jane LARWICK born August 5, 2010; Whytt Dean COLLIER born May, 27 2011, and Hailee Mae HUDSON born September 29, 2010.

Deaths reported were James Christian OVERHOLTZER on August 1, 2011, Mary (PETTY) LUCE on December 13, 2010 and Doris D. TRENKLE on June 6, 2011.

There was one wedding to report and that was Shayna GREENE married to Robbie MASON on March 19, 2011.

Jenesse and Howard TULL and their family will host next year's reunion. It will be held at the Tingley community building on August 5, 2012.
