ASSEMBLY of GOD CHURCH
Rev. and Mrs. Gillespie, Redding, Ringgold County, Iowa
The Redding Assembly of God Church (Pentecostal) was organized in the 1930's with Herman HOCHMUTH as the first pastor. Pastor
HOCHMUTH and several of the parishioners bought the old country church as Ringgold City located in Lotts Creek Township. They
dismantled the old church, using the materials to construct a new church just south of the southwest corner of Redding's
town square. Bill AUSTIN was the carpenter who was assisted by his son Glenn. Other pastors who served Redding's Assembly
of God Church include: F. L. McATEE, Rev. WEDDLE, Rev. GILLESPIE, and Zelma SHAW, the last pastor who moved to Kellerton
In September of 1956, the church hosted a revival meeting with evangelist Mrs. George SHEPHERD as a speaker. Members of
the congregation include: Mrs. and Mrs. Ernie LEWIS, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon LANTZ, Mr. and Mrs. Eddie SMITH, Mr. and Mrs. Guy
NORRIS and family, Mrs. Efton HALL, Mrs. Otis HANKS, Mr. and Mrs. Bill AUSTIN, Mrs. O. W. LYNCH, Mr. and Mrs. P. A.
SUTHERLAND, Mr. and Mrs. Danny RUNDEL, Roxie SAVILLE, John and Luella ABARR, Mr. and Mrs. Guy KNIGHT, Mr. and Mrs. Will
HUNT, Mr. and Mrs. Harrison CRECELIUS, Mr. and Mrs. Bill STABE, Anne and Junior SPENCER, and Milla LYNCH. The church closed
around the year 1975. The church building now serves as Redding's community hall.
