Farewell for sisters set for Saturday in Maloy

With the closing of Immaculate Conception Parish in Maloy, the time has come for Sister Nan ROSS and Sister Joanna RETTENMEIER to return to the Sisters of Charity B.V.M. Mother House in Dubuque. A farewell reception will be held in Maloy on Saturday, May 9.

Sister Joanna arrived in Maloy in 1995 along with Siser Marian KLOSTERMANN. Sister Nan joined them in 1996. They hae been active in the Catholic parishes in Ringgold and Taylor counties.

In addition, they have worked in many other community activities from volunteering at the Mount Ayr Community elementary school and at the Neighborhood Center to tutoring Hispanics learning English in Lenox.

In Dubuque, they will have the opportunity to pitch in with various activities. Sister Nan has a garden spot claimed and a furniture refinishing project lined up.

Sister Marian KLOSTERMANN, who spent several years in Maloy before moving to Omaha, will also be attending the reception.

The farewell reception will be Saturday, May 9, from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Foxtown Music Hall in Maloy.
