The Breniman family of Brooklyn, IA.
The Breniman family lived in the Brooklyn area. This picture is of the children of Christian and Barbara Breniman. The family came from Switzerland in 1852, living briefly in Ohio before buying land in Poweshiek County Iowa. The youngest son, Johann Franklin, was born in Iowa. In order of birth, the children were Christian, Friedrick, Rosina, Margaretha, Rudolf or Reuben (a Civil War drummer boy), Gottlieb, Marianna, Anna Elisabetha, Arnold and John. Two daughters died in infancy in Switzerland. One son is missing from this picture. I believe Rudolf is on the left, and probably Christian on the right. Rosina and Margaretha sitting in front.
