Allen, George William -

George William Allen was born in Waterloo County, near Quebec, Canada April 25th, 1854, died near Braddyville, Iowa, March 3rd, 1923 aged 68 years, 11 months and 23 days.

At the age of 19 years, he was united in marriage with Henri Luella Pence, in Nodaway County, Mo. To this union were born six sons William Henry, Corwin Ethan, Emmett Wels, Willis Clarence, George C., Ralph Brent, and three daughters, Mrs Myrtle Agnes Porter, Minerva Ellen Porter and Mabel Luella Trumbull.

Mr Allen united with the Christian Church of Salida, Colo in 1905.

He was a great nephew of Colonel Ethan Allen of Revolutionary war fame. Other of his relatives among the Smith were famous in that war.

He leaves his widow, seven children, one sister, Mrs Ellen Mason of Santa Barbara, Cal, seven grandchildren, two cousins, and many friends both here and in Colorado. THE CLARINDA HERALD, Clarinda, Iowa, Monday, Mar 12th, 1923

 

Allen, Luella Henri Pence -

Louella Henri Allen, born in Linn county, Iowa, October 9, 1856, daughter of Henry and Marie Louisa Pence, passed away February 18, 1942, at Braddyville, Iowa, at the age of 85 years, 6 months, 9 days.

At the age of 13 years she moved to Braddyville where she lived with the exception of three years spent n Kansas, 1887-1890.

She was married to George Allen March 28, 1874. To them nine children were born, seven of whom are living: William H. Allen, Salida, Colo; Myrale A. Porter, Braddyville, Iowa; Corwin E. Allen, Pinconning, Mich; Emmett W. Allen, Clifton, Ariz; Clarence G. Allen, Nelson, British Columbia; Mable Trumbull, Newark, Dela; Ralph B. Allen, New York City. There are seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her husband who passed away in March, 1923, one son, Willis C. Allen, and one daughter, Minerva E. Porter.

During the ministry of W.L. Dunlavy in the early seventies at union church in Braddyville, she became a member of the Christian church. She has been a member of the present church since 1900. She was a real pioneer, meeting life with courage and patience.

Mrs Allen was a member of the Ladies' Auxiliary, Macrae-Cooper Post No 3086 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United State. This membership she prized greatly. She was the oldest member of the organization in this community.

Funeral services were conducted by Ellsworth L. Woods, pastor of the Christian church of Clarinda at two o'clock on February 20, 1942. Music was provided by a quartet: Mose Burch, Maynard Burch, Max Garrett, Paul Stickelman, accompanied by Mrs Paul Stickelman. Pall bearers were Harvey Ramsey, Elmer Avey, Roy Johnson, Grant Jones, J.B. Bonsall, and H.Journey. Interment was in the Burch cemetery. Bays, Joseph S. -

After an illness of two weeks the death angel claimed as its victim our esteemed friend, Josiah Bays. He was born in Green county, Indiana, Sept 1, 1873; removed with his parents when quite young to Nodaway county, where he was reared to manhood; was united in marriage to Eva M. Hendry, October 12, 1898, and died at his home, seven miles southwest of Hopkins, May 3, age 26 years, 8 months and 2 days.

Joe, as he was familiarly called, was an honest, upright man, loved and respected by all. He leaves a loving wife, father, mother, three sisters and three brothers to mourn his loss.

Services were conducted at the deceased's late residence, by Rev Pace of Hopkins, after which his remains were followed by a large concourse of sorrowing friends to the Burch cemetery where interment took place. THE HOPKINS JOURNAL, Hopkins, Missouri, Thu May 10, 1900 page 2

 

Bennett, Samuel -

Bennett, Samuel, who lived in our town for a good many years and was engaged in business here until a year ago last March, at which time he moved to Siam, Iowa, died at his home at that place at 2 o'clock Tuesday morning, January 20. The funeral services were held in Siam at 10 o'clock Wednesday forenoon, after which the remains were conveved to the Burch cemetery, three miles east of Braddyville, where they were laid to rest.--Clearmont News. Died, Samuel Bennet, at his home in Siam, Taylor County, Iowa, January 20, A.D. 1903, and was buried in Birch cemetery January 21, by Plumb Lodge No 285 A.F. and A.M. in the [unreadable] craft of which he was a member. Burch, Archibald -

A.C. Burch of St Joseph died yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at St Joseph following a long illness. The body was brought to Clearmont today and taken to the home of his brother, John A. Burch.

Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 10 o'clock at the Baptist church. Burial will be in Burch cemetery, four miles east of Braddyville, Iowa.

Mr Burch is survived by five brothers and three sisters, who are: James and Matthew Burch of Braddyville, Iowa, Joseph Burch of Clarinda, John Burch of Clearmont, Charles Burch of Freemont, Neb, Mrs Alice Brewer of Maryville, Mrs Rachael Watson of Clearmont, Mrs Mahalia Burch of Salem, Ore. Burris, Artie - Artie Burris was born at Essex, Page county, Iowa, April 15, 1886, died Jun 6, 1905, age 19 years 1 month and 21 days. He was an honest and consistent young man. The more you became acquainted with him the more you learned to love him. Always enjoying himself and making it pleasant for those he associated with. In the year 1902 he went to Washington thinking that his health would be better; but of no avail and after staying there nine months, wrote to his grandma, Mrs Hannah McClure, that he wanted to come home and die with her. He arrived here in August, 1904. Most of the time since then he had been confined to the house with a very troublesome cough and about two weeks ago, was stricken down with that dreadful disease consumption, but he bore it patiently and said that he was ready to die. Just before passing away he told his grandma, that he had made it all right with Jesus, and wanted her to come and go with him. His funeral was held Thursday at the Methodist church in Bradyville. The casket was completely covered with flowers. One of the beautiful wreaths was presented by the young men of Braddyville. Elder Simmons of Hopkins, Mo, preached an appropriate sermon from Eclesiastes 22, 9-10, after which he was laid to rest in the Burch cemetery beside his mother who preceded him to the better land a good many years ago. Burris, Jennie B. McClure - The wife of Leroy Burris, editor of the Coin Courier, died at her home in Coin last Sunday, of consumption. Red R. Campbell, 45, a farmer of Spring Hill, Kas., died yesterday at the University of Kansas hospitals. Carmichael, Constant Joseph - Constant Joseph Carmichael, born Aug 12, 1833 in Monroe Co, Indiana, died at Bedford, Iowa, Oct 29, 1927, at the age of 94 years, 2 months and 17 days. Was married to Mary Ann Hostettter, Oct 18, 1855, who preceded him in death May 5, 1926. To this union were born 9 children, 5 of whom survive and are: Martha Davis, Lincoln, Nebr; Rachael E. Parks, Bedford, Iowa; Joseph D. LaPort, Texas; Jacob S., Omaha, Nebr; Isaac P., Maryville, Mo. Also 27 grandchildren and 48 great grandchildren. On June 3, 1859, he united with the Primitive Baptist church in Monroe county, Indiana, and in 1875 was ordained to the ministry, preaching for several years before his ordination. Carmichael, Mary Ann Hostetter -

Mrs Mary Ann Carmichael, 86 years old, wife of Elder C.J. Carmichael, of Hopkins, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the home of her son, Isaac Carmichael, in Hopkins. She had been an invalid for six years as the result of a paralytic stroke, in the death of Mrs Carmichael Nodaway County loses one of its oldest residents.

Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning at the Baptist Church in Hopkins. Elder M.E. Young of Indianola, Ia, will officiate and burial will be in Burch cemetery two miles east of Braddyville.

Mrs Carmichael was born in Stark County, Ohio, May 8, 1840. She was the daughter of John and Magdalene Hostetter. On October 18, 1855 she was married to Elder Carmichael. Nine children were born to them, five of whom survive, with her husband. They are: Mrs Martha M. Davis, Lincoln, Neb; Mrs Rachael E. Parks, Bedford; Joseph D. Carmichael, Houston, Tex; Jacob Carmichael, Omaha; and Isaac Carmichael, Hopkins. Thirty-four grandchildren and fifty-one great grandchildren also survive, as do two brothers, Cyrus and Samuel Hostetter, both of Braddyville.

Mrs Carmichael was united with the Primative Baptist Church in 1859. Since then she has been a loyal church worker. Her husband is still active in church work in spite of the fact that he is past 92 years of age.

Cassel, Mary Ann House - Braddyville items: Mrs Mary Ann House, wife of James J. Cassel, died in Braddyville, Saturday, April 24, 1909, after only four days' illness, with something like la grippe. She was up and around about ten minutes before she died. Her maiden name was House. She was born In Kentucky May 1, 1822. She was married in 1838 at Crawfordsville, Ind, to Mr Cassell, who survives her. Ten children were born to them, of whom the following are living: Mrs S. McComb, College Springs; Mrs Mark Cook, Maryville, Mo, Mrs Isaac Holbrook, Mrs Frank Holbrook, and Mrs Delbert Bishop of Missouri, near Braddyville; Perry Cassel, of Norton county, Kan, and John Cassel of Hopkins, Mo. Although seventy-one years married the longest time they were ever separated from each other was when Mrs Cassel spent thirty days on a visit in Kansas. This is said to have been in fact the only time they were ever away from each other for any considerable length of time. Mrs Cassel's funeral was held Monday at 2 pm, conducted by Rev E.A. Jordan, pastor of the Christian church. The bearers were Samuel Mann, E.E. Stickelman, C.C. White, Thomas Steer, F.W. Hart and William Blackford. Cook, David -

At the home of Prof E.F. Cook of South Main street Friday night occurred the death of his grandfather, David Cook, who had been failing for three months.

Maryville had been his home only a year, he having moved here from Clearmont, where he had resided since 1874.

Mr Cook had lived with his grandson for twenty-six years. His wife died years ago and he also has three children dead. One child only, Mrs Mary Pence of Clearmont, survives. Mr Cook was born in Mecca, Ind.

He belonged to the home guards of Indiana, but never saw active service.

Cook, Mark A. - Mark A. Cook, four and one-half miles northeast of town, died Tuesday, May 15, 1906, about noon after a long, lingering illness. The funeral services were held at Prairie Temple church Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev G.W. Norris, after which the remains were taken to the Burch cemetery and laid to rest. Cook, Rosa Ellen Cassel

Clyde Cassel received a message this morning announcing the death of his aunt, Mrs Rosa Cook, a former resident of Maryville. Mrs Cook's death occurred last night at her home in Oak Park, near Chicago.

The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Christian church in Braddyville, Ia. Burial will be in the Braddyville [Burch] cemetery.

Surviving Mrs Cook are one son, Ellis Cook, formerly president of the Maryville Business College, three sisters, Mrs I.N. Holbrook, Braddville; Mrs Mary Bishop, Elmo; and Mrs Hanna McComb of College Springs, Ia., and one brother, George Cassel of Akron, Colo. One grandchild, Mildred Cook also survives. Rufus Cook died at the home of his sister, Mrs William Pence, last Friday night, July 8, 1904, at about 11 o'clock. The funeral was held at Prairie Temple church Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev J.J. Henley. Interment was at the Burch cemetery. Rufus King Cook, youngest child of David and Indiana Cook, was born in Park county, Indiana, December 30, 1860, and died July 7, 1904, aged 43 years, 6 months and 7 days. He came West with the family in 1874, and resided near Braddyville, Iowa. He lived in this community until about twenty years ago, when he moved to the Indian Territory [Oklahoma], where he remained until a few weeks before his death.--Clearmont News. Dunham, Henry Isaac -

Isaac Henry Dunham, son of Mr and Mrs John Dunham was born Feb 27, 1851, at Bloomfield, Ind, had departed this life at his home near Clearmont, Mo, at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 3 days. He was united in marriage Feb 13, 1902 to Emma May McMullen. To this union one child was born, a son, who died in infancy.

He has resided at his late residence for the past 29 years.

He has no known relatives but leaves to mourn his departure his faithful wife and a host of friends and neighbors.

He had been a patient sufferer for the past two months, but bore his sufferings with patience and fortitude. [poem]

Funeral services were conducted from the home Thursday afternoon by Rev Faye Merriott. Burial at Burch cemetery.

Holbrook, Emma Millica Pownall -

Emma Millica Pownell Holbrook, daughter of Mrs Hanna P. McClure, died at her home southeast of Braddyville, Wednesday, February 4, 1920. She was a great sufferer with a tumor which caused her death. Mrs Holbrook was born at Burlington, Iowa in the year 1861. She was 59 years, 5 months and 26 days old. She was united in marriage to George W. Holbrook, Oct 12, 1877, and was brought up in the faith of the Old School Presdestinarian Baptist, and was baptized and joined church at the Shearer church, fifteen years ago. Her life had been a straight forward, Christian one, always kind and helpful to all in time of sickness or need. It can well be said of her that no one knew her but to love her. She leaves to mourn for her a beloved husband, three sons and one daughter--George Henry, Carleton Lorane, Clarence Charles and Mrs Nora Bell Lasley; two grandchildren, Opal Pauline Holbrook and Crystal Marie Holbrook; one brother, Calb Pownell, of Pennsylvania. No funeral services were held on account of sickness in the family, the body being laid quietly away in the Burch cemetery without an attending clergyman. Her children as well as the husband could not be present on account of the influenza being in their homes, but she will always be held in greatest reverence and her loved ones know she is now happy in that land where sickness pain and death is unknown. at end of George's obit - Emma M. Powell, wife of George W. Holbrook, was born at Mt. Pleasant Iowa, August 8, 1860 and departed this life, February 4, 1920 aged 59 years, five months and 26 days.

She was a member of the Baptist church and lived a true Christian life up to the time of her death.

She was in poor health several years but was confined to her bed about one week preceeding her death Because of the presence of influenza in the family and community, it was impossible to hold funeral services. Hence it was desired and fitting on the part of relatives to include tribute of love in memory of her with that of the husband and father. Funeral services were held at the home of their son, Clarence, where Mr. Holbrook had been making his home since the death of his wife. Rev. Ray Snodgrass conducted the services on Wednesday, August 24 at 2 p. m.. After an eloquent and touching address and beautiful singing by the Maryville Male Quartette, his remains were taken to the Burch Cemetery for burial by the side of his wife. Hopple, Helena A. Hoy - Helen A. Hoy was born in Essex county, New Jersey, May J [sic] 1864, and died in Nodaway county, Missouri, Dec 18, 1903, aged 39 years, 7 months and 14 days. Hopple, John R. -

Some nine weeks ago, John R. Hopple came to this city from his home in Wathena, Kansas. He was in failing health and came here to be treated by local physicians, sarcoma, a cancerous growth on the neck being the most serious of his ailments. He was beyond the aid of human hands and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs Al Foster, June 18, 1916. The funeral service was held at the Foster home Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev Griffith, pastor of the Baptist church and burial took place in the Burch cemetery, near Braddyville.

The deceased was born in Pennsylvania April 26, 1844, making him past 72 years of age at the time of his death. He was married to Mary Ann Williamson in Illinois in 1865. To this union ten children were born, two of the children and the wife preceeding him to the grave some years ago. The children living are D.M. Hopple, Elnora Foster and Al Hopple, Hopkins; Mrs Welma Foster, Braddyville; Mrs Amie Friend, Wilcox; Clark Hopple, Atchison, Kansas; Seldon H. Hopple, Red Oak, Iowa, and Earl Hopple, Braddyville, Iowa. With the exception of Seldon and Clark, the children were all present at the funeral. The deceased when 6-year old, came with his parents to Illinois and when a young man moved to Iowa. He later moved to near this city and remained until some years ago when he moved to his late home at Wathena, Kansas. In 1905 he was again married to Mrs Louisa Wilson at Diagonal, Iowa, who survives him. Besides his children, he leaves 29 grandchildren, 6 great grand children and three brothers and three sisters. Hopple, Robert L. -

Funeral services for Lee Hopple, 39 years old, a former resident of Clearmont, were held at that place Monday afternoon at two o'clock and burial was in the Burch cemetery northeast of Clearmont.


Mr Hopple had been living at Galesburg, Ill, recently, his death occurring there last Thursday. He was in the army during the war and a number of former service men from Clearmont and Burlington Junction assisted in the funeral service. A firing squad and bugler from the Service Battery, 128th Field Artillery, composed of Sgt Miles Graves, Sgt Vervil McAtee, Sgt John Jones, Sgt Walter Hardy, Cpt R.V. Hosteter, Lula J. -

Lulu, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Robert Hostetter, was born July 5, 1899, and departed this life, September 9, 1902, aged three years, two months and four days.

Jackson, Elmer -

Marvin Elmer Jackson died at 3:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the home of his niece, Mrs John Richardson, seven miles northwest of Elmo. He had been ill for a week. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Christian church in Hopkins, conducted by the pastor, the Rev C.A. Abbott. Burial will be in the Burch cemetery at Braddyville, Ia.

Mr Jackson was born March 7, 1872 in Illinois and had lived at the home northwest of Elmo since May 12, 1950. He was a farmer and his wife died in June, 1946. Jackson, Maggie Farquhar -

Mrs Marion Elmer Jackson, 72 years of age, died Tuesday afternoon at her home ten miles north of Clearmont, where she and her husband had lived for 29 years. Funeral services will be held at the Hopkins Christian church and burial will be in the Braddyville, Iowa, cemetery but the time will be announced later.

Jackson, Venie Mildred - Venie Mildred Jackson, infant daughter of Elmer and Maggie Jackson, aged 4 months and 26 days, died at the home of the parents, Aug 18, 1905, of a nervous disorder. Linebaugh, Isaiah's DAUGHTERS - The little four and six year old girls of Isaiah Linebaugh, three miles north and east of town, died this week of diphtheria. The first was taken sick on Friday and died Sunday night. The other was stricken on Sunday and lived only till Wednesday night. Both were interred in the Burch cemetery, east of Braddyville. Linebaugh, Rose - Miss Rose Linebaugh, daughter of Mr and Mrs Isaiah Linebaugh, died at their home, two and a half miles northeast of Clearmont, last Monday forenoon at 11:30 o'clock, aged 17 years, 10 months and 26 days. The funeral services took place from the house Tuesday at 11 o'clock am, conducted by Elder Wyckoff. The remains were interred in the Burch cemetery, east of Braddyville.--Clearmont News. McClure, Hannah P. Mason Pownall - Mrs Hannah McClure died Monday morning, Dec 20, 1915, at 8 o'clock, at the home of her daughter, Mrs George Holbrook, Sen, four miles southeast of Braddyville, at an advanced age, being nearly eighty years old. Miller, Karnes Laughlin -

Karnes Laughlan Miller was born May 11, 1857, at Rosendale, Andrew County, Missouri, and died at Humbolt, Kansas, June 13, 1908, at the age of 51 years, 1 month and 3 days.

At an early age he was converted and united with the Methodist church.

He was married in Clearmont, to Sarah Pence Feb 18, 1885 and to that union were born five children, four of which died in infancy.

Sarah Miller died at her home in LeRoy, Kansas, Nov 27, 1905.

Mr Miller leaves one daughter, Lottie Miller, an aged mother, three brothers, four sisters and many others to mourn his loss.

Word was received June 13, telling of his sudden death and the body was brought home on the night train, Tuesday.

Mr Miller had not been well this spring but seemed some better on Saturday. He was about his usual work when he fell, his death being due to heart trouble. He has lived near Hopkins the greater part of his life and is well known here.

Funeral services was conducted at the home of his mother Grandma Miller, Wednesday morning at nine o'clock by Rev A.J. Brock.

Interment took place in the Burch Cemetery ten miles west of here.

Karus Miller of Leroy, Kan, died suddenly at that place Saturday. The remains arrived Tuesday night and the funeral was held at the home of his mother, Mrs A.C. Mller, Wednesday forenoon. Norman, Karl Harold - Carl Norman, son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Norman, died at their home in Missouri, five miles southeast of Braddyville, Saturday, May 10. He was born Nov 10, 1910. The funeral was held at the family home, Sunday, at 2 pm. Burial was in the Burch cemetery, about three miles east of Braddyville. The services were conducted by Rev R.E. Pence, James Helm - J.H. Pence died at his home, five and one-half miles northeast of Clearmont, on Monday, April 18, 1904, at 4:05 o'clock pm, aged 47 years, 8 months and 7 days. James Helm Pence was born in Park county, Indiana, August 11, 1856. In 1870 he came to Nodaway county, Mo, where he has resided ever since. He was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Nixon [Hixon], January 1, 1882, who still survives him. To them were born nine children, five of whom are living, four having died in infancy. He was one of twelve children, seven of whom have passed away, four brothers and one sister still living. He was converted and united with the Methodist church in 1847, and has ever since lived a consistent Christian life.--Clearmont News. Porter, Minerva Ellen Allen -

As the result of a fall on an icy pavement death has entered a Maryville home, a husband is left without a companion and a baby boy is motherless.

Mrs William T. Porter died Friday morning at her home on East Jenkins street, after an illness of less than a week.

Saturday evening she slipped on the ice while walking near her home, and fell with such force as to cause internal injuries. She suffered severely from the time of the accident, and grew gradually worse until death ensued.

The dead woman was born October 10th, 1881, in Nodaway county, the home of her parents being south of Braddyville, Ia. Her maiden name was Minerva Ellen Allen. She came a few years ago to reside in Maryville, and a little later became the wife of William T. Porter of this city.

She is survived by her husband and little son. The latter will be 2 years old next May.

Other relatives are her parents, Mr and Mrs G.W. Allen; five brothers and two sisters. One brother, William Allen, is in Utah; Emmett Allen in Sheridan, Wyo; Corwin, Clarence and Ralph Allen are at home, and the sisters, Misses Myrtle and Mabel Allen, also live at home.

Mrs Allen and Miss Myrtle Allen were with Mrs Porter during the last two days of her illness and Corwin Allen arrived from Chicago Thursday.

Porter, William T. -

William T. Porter, Braddyville, Ia., about 51 years old, a member of the Roosevelt Camp of the United Spanish War Veterans here, died yesterday morning in the Veterans' hospital in Kansas City. He had been in poor health for some time.

Mr Porter formerly lived in Maryville and at one time was a driver for the fire department here when horsedrawn fire wagons were used.

He was a sergeant in Company E, Fourth Missouri regiment.

Richey, Edith Ernie - Buchanan Township. Edith Richey was born in Nodaway county, Mo, Feb 10, 1895, died Nov 19, 1905, aged 10 years 9 months and 9 days, of blood poison, resulting from an ulcerated tooth. She was a daughter of David and Grandma Richey. After a brief service at the Scott school house, the remains were taken to the Burch cemetery for burial. Simpson, Bird -

Bird Simpson was born in Harrison county, Missouri, March 10th, 1846, and passed away at the home of his son, Henry Simpson, 10 miles east of Hamburg, Iowa, Tuesday night, Feb 27th, aged 77 years, 11 months and 17 days.

He was married June 11th, 1871, to Elizabeth Ann Mabbett and to this union were born nine children, two of whom have preceded the father in death--Mrs Eva Veath and Mrs Sadie Edwards.

A greater part of Mr Simpson's life was spent around Hamburg, Iowa, and Linden, Mo. He had also lived in Oklahoma, that state being his home when his wife died, Jun 20, 1903, leaving him when three of his sons were quite small. However, he looked after them with the care of both a father and mother and reared them to manhood.

Two years ago he was stricken with paralysis, his left side being affected. He never fully recovered from the stroke. His last illness was of only a week's duration.

Besides his son, Henry, with whom he made his home, deceased leaves to mourn the loss of a father, three daughters, Mrs Ella Gaines, Mrs Maggie Mortimore and Mrs Ida Shoemake; also three sons, Will Simpson of Clearmont, Mo; Clarence and Geo of near Hamburg. There are also 28 grandchildren.

The funeral services opened with a short prayer at the home by Elder Nathan Mortimore and then the body was taken to Good Hope church, east of Clearmont, Mo, where the funeral sermon was preached by Rev Ingram at one o'clock, Thursday afternoon, March 1st. Six grandsons acted as pallbearers. The remains were laid to rest at the side of his wife, in Birch cemetery, three miles east of Braddyville, Iowa. Simpson, Clarence Alba -

Hamburg--Clarence A. Simpson, 57, lifelong resident, died at a Lincoln, Neb hospital Thursday evening.

A veteran of World War I and member of the Hubert Woodard American Legion Post here, he was a retired farmer.

Services were Saturday at Rash Funeral Home with the Rev Fay McDonald officiating. Burial was in Birch Cemetery at Braddyville with military rites by the Woodard post.

Survivors include: one nephew, Donald Mortimer of Hamburg, with whom he had lived; three brothers, Henry of Burlington Junction, Mo, George of Albert Lea, Minn, and Will of Clearmont, Minn; two sisters, Mrs Ide Shoemaker of Shenandoah and Mrs Maggie Mortimer of Hamburg. Tinnell, Otis Leman - Otis Lehman Tinnell, the son of Mr and Mrs Harry Tinnell, was born Nov 15, 1912, and departed this life June 6, 1914, at the age of one year six months and twenty-one days. He was an exceedingly bright and attractive child, and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. The funeral services were held at the home of his parents, Sunday afternoon, June 7, and were conducted by Rev R.W. Thomas of the Methodist Episcopal church, assisted by the Rev Mr Hunt, of the Church of Christ. Music was furnished by Miss Lela Kellogg, Mr and Mrs Irwin Wilson, and Guy Redman.
