DePrang, Bobbie Jean Richeson -
Bobbie Jean DePrang (née Richeson) of Shenandoah, Iowa, and formerly of Talco, Texas, entered into eternal rest at the age of 90 on Saturday evening, February 15th, 2020, at Elm Heights nursing home in Shenandoah. A celebration of life funeral service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Coleman, Texas, Friday, March 6th, at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at the Atoka Cemetery in Novice, Texas. Family and friends are invited to gather for lunch prior to the funeral at 11:00 A.M. at Hildalgo’s Mexican Restaurant in Coleman. Bobbie met Herman DePrang in Abilene, Texas, who became the love of her life. They went on their first date to a dance featuring some of their favorite musicians, Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys, and the two were married shortly after in Lovington, New Mexico, in November 1952. Bobbie and Herman raised one child, a daughter, Roma Leah King, who remembers them as amazing parents who were always there to help. The couple spent most of their married life in California where Herman worked in the oilfields. Herman was a devoted, fun-loving father who often took his daughter to work, school, and church. Bobbie worked for many years as an electric circuit board inspector, which was somewhat unusual for a woman in the 1950s. The couple retired and returned to Texas where they made their home in Weatherford. They worked together commuting between Weatherford and the DePrang family ranch outside of Novice drilling oil wells. Roma is thankful to both her parents who were supportive throughout her life, including college, graduate school and her married life.
Bobbie and Herman, affectionately known as “Nanna and Granddaddy,” helped raise their grandson, Adam Garland Swanson, for most of his childhood, until Herman died in 2004. Even afterwards, Bobbie continued sharing activities with Adam. The two spent many hours working on model train layouts, wiring them and running multiple different types of trains. Later on, she helped with Adam’s career as a pianist by sewing enumerable vests and costumes for him to wear. Bobbie and Adam even discovered a similar love for the music and movies of such figures as Bob Wills, Gene Autry, and others. She will be missed immeasurably by her very grateful grandson.
Bobbie welcomed Dr. Scott King, her son-in-law, to the family in 2001, and the family moved to Shenandoah in 2007 enabling Scott to work for the Shenandoah Medical Center. Bobbie was an active participant at the Senior Center in Shenandoah for many years and enjoyed the friendships she made there. She loved playing cards and dominos, and shared her gift of sewing with her daughter and many charity organizations over the years. Bobbie moved to the Holmes’ Apartments for the last few years of her life, which was a lovely home for her, and she appreciated the friends she made there as well.

Our son, Nathan Paul Finck, died Thursday, December 12, 2019, in the home he was sharing with friends in Lenexa, Kansas. He succumbed to a long and painful battle with depression, a true disease of the mind and mental outlook.
Nate was found abandoned in a safe location in Seoul, Korea, on July 9, 1984. He was given the birthdate of July 7, 1984. He was a healthy birthweight with a cleft lip and palate and needed surgery that his birthparents could not provide.
Nate arrived home to us on June 30, 1985, a week prior to his first birthday, joining two sisters, Katherine and Sheila, and a brother Chris, at home with his parents, Dana and Carolyn Finck.
He attended school in Clarinda, Iowa, where he was involved in Boy Scouts, church activities and various sports. He especially loved football and track. Over the years, he had nine surgeries to the repair of his cleft lip and palate. Nate loved to make people laugh, which may have caused a few teachers to shake their heads. He saw each person he met as a possible new best friend. Nate would notice things that others didn’t and try to lift people’s spirits.
He graduated from Clarinda High School in May of 2003. Nate loved Iowa State University and enjoyed being an ISU fan, especially of football. It was there that he met Becky Berndt and they were married in June 2007. Nate graduated from ISU in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a secondary education teaching endorsement. He was a complete science geek and would discuss science facts with anyone, whether they displayed interested or not.
In the years since graduation Nate has taught secondary science, enjoyed success in sales and management at Verizon and in the last few months worked for Quest Diagnostics in Kansas City as a forensic scientist.
Within Nate and Becky’s marriage they welcomed two children, Harper Mae, ten years old, and Ryden Paul, 8 years old to our family. Along with the treasure we have in Becky, Harper and Ryden have brought all of us immeasurable joy. Nate and Becky were divorced at the time of his death.

Neihart, John - John Neihart, 57 of New Market, IA, passed away on January 3, 2020. No services are planned at this time. Per request of John and his family, please no flowers or plants....go plant a tree somewhere in honor of John. SWI Cremation of Shenandoah, Iowa assisted the family with cremation arrangements.
Memorials: John Neihart Memorial Fund, c/o Cornerstone Bank, Clarinda, Iowa.
Obituary
John Neihart was born November 16, 1962, and passed away January 3, 2020. He graduated from South Page High School, then Southwestern Community College with a certificate in auto body repair.
John was a natural at fixing things and spent much of his life repairing and replacing roofs, doing home repairs, remodels and painting. He developed a reputation for doing quality work for a fair price and he was glad to teach his son these skills as well. John also loved auctions and he and "Sonny" would spend much time traveling, buying and selling.
John was fiercely independent and did things on his own terms. The determination and fight he demonstrated up to the very end was a credit to the strength of the human spirit. He told us over and over "I want to live. I want to beat cancer." I purport to you that he did just that. For more than 1500 days and without any treatment, he beat cancer with sheer will power and dietary changes. From where I sit, that's pretty remarkable!
John was not perfect and he had struggles in life. He valued his sobriety and was proud to keep away from alcohol more than 25 years. He loves his son more than anything in this world but acknowledged he's made mistakes as a parent. He loves his family. Most recently I learned about his love for trees. He talked a lot about how the world needs more trees. He sent me to take pictures of his 200 and 300 year old oak trees that he's been protecting. One of his final wishes was that those trees never be cut down.
John will be missed and long remembered for his stubbornness and determination, his dry sense of humor and his love for his son, his friends and family and trees. John would ask for no flowers or plants. In his honor plant and care for a tree. If you wish to send a memorial contribution please direct that to the fund for his teen son, Josh Neihart.
John is survived by his son Joshua Neihart, his parents, Janet and Monroe Neihart; and siblings, Julie, Susan, Junior, Lori and Ralph. He has multiple nieces and nephews and some amazing friends.
The family wishes to thank and acknowledge Brenda Bair who was the finest caregiver we could of ever found. Her love and care for John was a gift from the heart. Also much thanks to Misty and the team at Pure Rehabilitation Services who showed up time and again (whenever needed) and treated John with patience, kindness and excellent care. To be clear, they went above and beyond the call of duty in so many ways and we are deeply grateful
