Eleanora Anna Sophia Grebert
from Arliss Powell - Arlissann80@comcast.net

Eleanora was born on her parent's farm north of Clarinda, Iowa. She attended Jackson public school through the 6th grade and Immanuel Lutheran School 7th and 8th grades. She was baptized and confirmed in that church.

During the period she atttended Immanuel school, she drove a horse and buggy, picking up her little cousin, Arliss Baumgarten. During the severe winter months, Eleanor stayed at the Baumgarten home. The two girls walked to school, cutting across the fields making it a much shorter walk.

She and her husband, Herb, farmed adjacent to her home farm on what was then referred to as "Wall Street". Reitirement took them to a neat bungalow in Clarinda where she lived until her death.

Eleanora was close to her sisters, particularly Martha who lvied near Seward, NE. And to Arliss to whom she was a "big sister".
