KRIS MEYER-Candidate for NWPL CC Rep

When I retired the first time in 2014, I became interested in tracing my paternal genealogy. My maternal aunt and uncle had traced the maternal side to the 1500's but I did not know much about my German ancestors. That is how I found IAGenWeb.

My father grew up in O'Brien county, Iowa, as did I, and O'Brien needed a coordinator so I applied. I knew next to nothing about making webpages, so I took an online course and had a great mentor to get me started. I found a lot of information that also included Osceola County, Iowa, to the north, so it seemed natural to adopt that one too.

I was a Welcome Hostess from 2015-2016. I babysat several counties and adopted both Clay County and Dickinson County, Iowa, so I have a block of 4 adjoining counties in Iowa. My paternal Grandmother was from Crawford County, Iowa, so it seemed natural to adopt that one also.

I was IA ASC from 2021-2022 and am presently Iowa SC until July of this year, when I become IPSC. I still coordinate all 5 counties in Iowa. I love to help people with their research.

I served one year on the grievance committee on USGenWeb. I am a firm believer that USGenWeb is the best free genealogy site there is, and I promise to carry on the rules and traditions.
