SCOTT WILSON
Scott
Wilson was born July 25, 1880, in Montgomery County, near Elliott
and spent most of his life in Montgomery and Pottawattamie Counties.
He was one of five children born to Jobe and Phobe Ann Wilson. They
were: Mandy Wilson 1877-1896; Ross Wilson 1879 lived 22 days; Flora
Mewhirter 1875-1960; Mattie Hogeland 1883-1969; Scott Wilson
1880-1971.
His mother
Phoebe passed away in 1883 at the age of 30 years and Scott made his
home with an aunt.
In 1901,
he married Mary Cordelia Haynes. To this union five children were
born; Elmer died in infancy; Jesse passed away in 1955; Ada Williams
lives in Freewater, Oregon; Hazel Spencer, Oakland, Iowa; annd
George S. Wilson, Elliott, Iowa.
Scott and
Cordia lived most of their lives in the vicinity of Elliott. They
moved to a farm northwest of Elliott in 1907, and lived there until
Cordia's death in 1961. At that time, George moved onto the home
farm and Scott made his home with Hazel in Oakland, until his death
in 1971.
