WILLIAM RILEY RUSH

    William Riley Rush was born Feb. 23, 1857 at Plattsburg, Mo. He was the son of William P. and Elizabeth (Hart) Rush.

    Riley was married to Dora Spence Oct. 10, 1888 in Nebraska, later moving to Iowa where she passed away in 1897. No children were born to this marriage.

    On Feb. 7, 1900 he was married to Laura Agnes Roberts at Red Oak, Iowa. She was the daughter of William P. and Many Elizabeth Jan (Earp) Roberts. Laura was born Dec. 14, 1880 at Medapolis, Iowa.

    Riley was a carpenter and farmer. They spent most of their married life in Pottawattamie, Cass and Montgomery Counties, moving to Elliott in 1922.

    Six children were born to this marriage:

    Myron Lee Rush – born June 27, 1901 – died Jan. 11, 1969.

    Oren J. Rush – born June 4, 1902 – died Aug. 24, 1969.

    Vernon D. Rush – born June 14, 1904.

    George Russell Rush – born March 5, 1906 – died March 19, 1971.

    Mildred Marie Rush – born June 10, 1908.

    Adah Mae Rush – born May 15, 1910 – died Oct. 5, 1911.

    Myron, Oren and Vernon were born in Montgomery County. Russell, Mildred and Adah were born in Pottawattamie County.

    William Riley Rush died Nov. 18, 1934 at his home in Elliott. Laura Agnes died Jan. 2, 1969 at Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak, Iowa. They were laid to rest in Waveland Cemetery.
