CHARLES HENRY REED
Charles
Henry married Clara Caroline Ellis on March 11, 1908. Clara was the
daughter of William and Amanda Jane Murrah Ellis. She was born April
21, 1887 on a farm southwest of Elliott. Charles and Clara lived on
the farm northeast of Elliott until the fall of 1971. At that time
they entered Marten's Manor rest home in Griswold, Iowa. They
celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary while residents at the
home. Charles passed away on Sept. 24, 1973; Clara on feb. 23, 1978.
Both are buried at Evergreen Cemetery at Red Oak. Charles and Clara
were parents of four children:

Ellis born Sept. 25, 1910 (see Charles Ellis Reed).
Mildred
Marie born Aug. 29, 1915.
Mavis
Charlene born Jan. 26, 1923.
William
Robert born Aug. 24, 1926.
Mildred
Marie, a beautician, married Charles Merritt Babcock, a service
engineer from Des Moines, Ia. on Dec. 15, 1956. They had no
children. Charles passed away May 22, 1974 and is buried at
Evergreen Cemetery. Mildred lives in Des Moines where she was
formerly a beautician and teacher at Iowa Beauty School. She teaches
ceramics in her home.
Mavis
Charlene, a telephone operator, married Raymond Paul Moree of red
Oak, Ia. on May 1, 1946 at the home of her parents. They farm
northwest of Red Oak. They have one daughter, Sharon Kay, born March
21, 1949 at Red Oak, Ia. Sharon is a beautician at Red Oak. She is
married to Dean Gettler of Adair, Iowa. They now live northwest of
Red Oak and are farmers.
William
Robert Reed married Romona Lee Haworth on Feb. 1, 1948 at the home
of her parents in Griswold, Iowa. They have resided on the Reed home
place except for 2 years when Bill was in service during the Korean
War. They have two children. Stephanie Ann Reed born Aug. 2, 1954 at
Council Bluffs, Ia. Stephanie now resides in Omaha, Nebraska where
she is employed at Farm Credit Bank as a payroll clerk. Charles
Edward Reed born Nov. 27, 1956 at Atlantic, Ia., and marrying to
Ladonna Longcor of Carson, Ia. They now reside at Elliott. He
is employed as a carpenter in Red Oak, Ia.
